green and symmes valley is always a good one

Re: Biggest S.O.C rivalries- (thanks for the idea Cat@mouseball)
In the S.O.C.1 i would have to say Notre Dame and New Boston even more with what happened at New Boston couple years ago. Also they are usually good games.

Minford and Valley is pretty good in any sport--but especially football and boys basketball.
Northwest/Valley and Northwest/West are usually good rivalries if they are both about equal that season. Sometimes one is a lot better than the other and that is not so interesting.
East and New Boston used to have a fierce rivalry in boys basketball years ago but I don't know about now.

East vs New Boston game is still big, normally with the teams splitting during the year.
Re: Biggest S.O.C rivalries- (thanks for the idea Cat@mouseball)
Eastern and Green always use to be a big rivalry. More recently, Eastern and Western are big cross county rivals since they joined the SOC. Eastern has only had to open the Mezzanine two times. Both were when Western played at Eastern. Both times the SOC title was on the line.

When I was in school many, many, many years ago Green's biggest rivals were East and Eastern.
East became the "hated" rival back in the early '80's when the "coach" at East continued to press and run the score up at the end of the game when Green only had 3-4 guys left on the floor. Everyone else had fouled out of the game. From that game on Green put its sights on beating East every time they played, and for a while that is how it turned out.
Eastern has always been a good match up. I remember several times being in their old gym and the lights going out. Some wild games with them.

Hopefully, when Green plays the eagles, they will not have a chance to be "far" ahead! Far behind would be nice!
As to the forum question....Green used to be the biggest rivalry for Eastern, but i agree as of late Western has captured that spot. Even last year with our squad a little down, the games were competitive and intense.

As far the the SOC 1 goes, it has to be Eastern-Western..I may be a little partial, but as said before, the gyms are always packed when these two teams play.
How about a couple years back when these two teams battled it out in the Holiday Tourney. Then later in the year, they had to play again at Eastern with the SOC title on the line. That place was packed and crazy.

claypantherfan: agreed...for a non-conference game, Webster and Clay have had some great games over the years. That's a pretty solid nonconference opponent for Webster, and hope they keep Clay on the schedule for years to come. I'd also put East up there as a solid nonconference game for Webster that usually gets pretty heated.
As for Webster's rival in SOC II, the fans always seem to get up for Wheelersburg (I know...what school doesn't get up for Burg in SOC II?!?!) and Minford. Probably due to proximity, plus those are two pretty solid programs on a yearly basis.*

For all of us really old timers in the 60's Clay and New Boston were the two biggest rivals.New Boston always had excellent basketball teams, went to Columbus several years in a row.
Re: Biggest S.O.C rivalries- (thanks for the idea Cat@mouseball)
The Eastern/Green games were always heated rivarly games when I played. Usually with the SOC title on the line. I have to agree though, as of late, the Eastern/Western games have become some of the best rivalry games. Those games at Eastern mentioned above were unbelievable games. I'll never forget Wes Jordan going up and stealing that ball on the inbound pass, turning as he was falling out of bounds, and hitting AJ Osborne streaking down the floor for the winning basket as time expired. Wow, brings back fond memories!

this isn't really a rivalry right now but northwest/waverly last year both games were heated and very close and i look for a lot of the same in the future and there is always a lot of tension between the two schools because they are so different the inner city tough guy school vs. the roughneck country kids.....they for the most part just don't like eachother!

All time athlete you must have taken too many shots to your head!!! You're calling Waverly "inner city"? I agree on the country kids but at 11 pm you can cross 23 without playing frogger.

Re: Biggest S.O.C rivalries- (thanks for the idea Cat@mouseball)
ok maybe inner city was to strong of a word but for the most part share nothing in common leading to tension...waverly thinks "we can't lose to these rednecks" and northwest thinks "we can't lose to these gangsta wannabes who have no respect for other teams"....I know these are both stereotypes and are wrong but when you're in high school this is what majority of the students from both schools think, then once you graduate you realize you are wrong in your thinking!
Re: Biggest S.O.C rivalries- (thanks for the idea Cat@mouseball)
I HAVE GRADUATED AND I KNOW YOU'RE WRONG IN YOUR THINKING. GANSTA WANNABES! WERE TALKING PIKE COUNTY NOT DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI. FOUR OF WAVERLY'S STARTERS LAST YEAR WERE STRAIGHT A STUDENTS. HOW MANY GANSTAS DO YOU KNOW WITH 4.0 GPAS BECAUSE OF JAKE PORTER OUR SCHOOLS HAVE A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP. YOU HAD A TREMENDOUS TEAM LAST YEAR AND ONE OF THE FAVORITES THIS SEASON TO WIN THE SOC WITH HANK LESLIE. WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO TARNISH THE CAMARADERIE.

well that is true....and as much as i hate to admit it and i mean really HATE to admit it you're right soccerfix!! in fact i have a lot of friends from waverly i was just trying to state that they do have some pretty heated games and i got a little carried away in my thinking just trying to win the argument.... and im admitting that i was wrong!
Re: Biggest S.O.C rivalries- (thanks for the idea Cat@mouseball)
From an outsider I think it is Minford-Wheelersburg
