by Barry Mann
My name is Barry Mann, and I represent La Roche College, which is a Division III school in Pittsburgh. I am responsible for scouting sophomores and juniors in West Virginia and southeastern Ohio.
In the past we have solely relied on high school coaches to provide us with information about potential players. However, we are expanding our efforts to include fan forums such as this one.
I am simply asking that members respond by posting player bios. These prospects should be 10th and 11th graders who are qualified and looking to play college basketball. Our school requires a minimum of a 21 on the ACT, so please keep that in mind.
Thank-you in advance for your participation. Questions or more detailed information about prospects can be emailed to me at
[email protected].

A couple of kids might get your attention at Portsmouth High School:
Andrew Bendolph......5-9 sophomore......left handed point guard......very quick.....averaged 14.0 PPG as a freshman for the Trojans and was the team's leading scorer........participated in AAU basketball for the past couple of years......shoots about 500 shots a day.........Andrew can hit the 3 or drive to the hole with equal ability and has a knack for drawing fouls.......don't know anything about his ACT scores but from my understanding is a good student..........
Forrest Johnson.......6-0 junior......right handed 2 guard.......most athletic player on team......averaged around 11-12 PPG with a couple of games over 20 points.......strength of his game is getting up and down in the open court, but can pull up for the 3 or drive to hole.......good free throw shooter.........has improved tremendously since his freshman year when he did see varsity minutes.......don't know his ACT scores.......also played AAU basketball.........
Just a couple of kids that might interest you, and let me add one more.....Portsmouth is supposed to be getting a transfer this week from Port Clinton High School, Tory Horne, a 6-0 junior, who averaged 14.0 PPG for the Redskins as a sophomore......haven't seen him play but from my understanding is quick with nice skills......will be a nice addition to the Trojans' desire to full court press teams.
I just thought I would pass this along to help you and the kids out............

They may or may not be headed to State I would think that seeing how the football team has Mays, Angle and Adams on the play-off bound chiefs that they speaks for itself.. Are you Mr. Mann? Just trying to give some names. If he is interested, let him come see them for himself and not go my comments from you.

I'm not saying that they aren't athletic kids, but it is doubful that 6 players from one H.S. program can contribute to a DIII college....

I was just giving names ... i feel that all 6 could play at a D3 school somewhere probably not for the same school.
They are all good athletes on and off the field and especially academic . To me that is an athlete....

Listen, I'm sure Mr. Mann is on here to look for serious talent, instead of reading two kids arguing back and forth. If you two keep it up he'll stop using this website for his scouting and you'll be to blame. Good luck with your recruiting Mr. Mann.

You listen, no one is arguing, Purple thinks that 6 players from the same H.S. can play college ball, that is his opinion and its fine. I just thought that I would state my opinion by saying that I dont think so.
lol- After reading what you wrote, one would think that you are his body gaurd or something....He doesn't need your help to keep people from arguing on his thread, he probably knows what he is doing and could care less what Purple or I have to say about how many H.S. players from the same team could play at the next level. Take a chill pill, he is more than likely capable of doing everything on his own, he doesnt need your help.

Listen, I'm just thinking about the kids. This may end up being some young man's only shot at going to college. I just don't want Mr Mann to decide he's not going to waste his time on here because some kids are using his thread as a chat room to argue with each other.
