Indians head up to the Burg for an SOC II battle. Thoughts? Burg gave Waverly a VERY nice run at home a week or so ago...
Valley 48
Burg 40

After losing to West I don't see the Burg winning more than 8 or 10 games this season. Valley should have no problem with the Pirates.

Seen the burg-sider game on tv. I see Valley winning this one. Valley looked like they were finally getting into BB shape. Another conference game, anything is possible.

If the game is tight Valley will get out coached. New guy is only 3-2 and Valley is loaded.

I wonder where you are from.

I'll do some snooping! 8) 8) More to come, COWARD! I've had enough of your whining! I'll let your neighbors decide if you are worth the embarrassment.

When I first read this....I thought it was a joke....then I looked at the name of the poster and realized...that is the joke.
Valley is 3-2 and have played 4 good ball clubs in 7 days all while having 6 practices, and a few of these boys still have a few little nagging football injuries. Valley is 1-4 if Villanger were still at the helm, because these kids wouldnt have been in good enough shape to play the "running indians" run and gun type garbage. The previous coach didnt use his big guys enough to win games when Yates was taken away last year, and already this year in 5 games....the big guys have been a factor. Of course if you were "Mr Basketball" you'd know all this.
All I can say is this...in the short future this team will begin to steamroll. EVERYONE said the Indians would drop a few early, and I see NO SHAME in losing to Ironton by 3..
Good Luck Tuesday night Indians!

But that same Pirate team gave SOC CO-Favorite all they wanted. Thats just a tough, tough place to play. It will be a close one.

...
Wheelersburg's youngsters are going to have a hard time with the Valley lineup of football/basketball athletes ... Coach Barrick & Co. NEED a good game to make up for the loss to Portsmouth West this past weekend ... I'm still shocked about that one - I literally CAN NOT remember when the Senators beat the Burg on the basketball court in the last 10+ years ... best of luck to both teams in this one - tough place to play in the land of Orange and Black ... BUT the reality of this one is that Valley rolls BIG - the ONLY way this is close is IF Coach Barrick's squad takes the air out of the ball, controls the tempo for 32 minutes ... should be an interesting game ...

Burg has taken the air out .... Good grief teams have been in the 40 to 50 point range the last 2 yrs ... And last year they had stegman and still rarely got into the 60s .... If valleys layup shooting woes continue they will get beat ...the bigs have to finish plays ...

C'mon guys. The Burg may be down and/or struggling but they aren't out. I'll take a "W" but I'm not so bold as to predict a blowout on their court, against arguably one of the best coaches in the area.

SB318..... I'm with you on that it will be a hard fought battle ! Barrick ball with the slow down gave Waverly fits . I'd be surprised if this game is any different .

Both teams will be lucky to hit 50. Barrick and Wburg will slow the game down and try to limit Valley's possessions. A few missed shots here and a few turnovers there and this could be a close game. Valley should win, but this is a tough place for an opponent to play. Valley wins, low scoring game.

Burg will be okay once they start knocking down some shots and shoot better from the line. In the gmae I saw them play agianst Green, they had wide open shots, just couldn't hit them and the FT shooting was atrocious to say the least. They have the shooters in Massie, Eddie and Dylan Miller.
I also think that Cowgill needs to shoot the ball more. He looks like he has a good shot in warmups but when he gets in the game he won't even look to take a shot.
Burg will definetly slow the game down and make Valley play at there pace. If Burg can hit a shot or two when needed, they might be able to pull this one out. That would be a huge boost in the arm for this young team, because with the Trojans coming in on Friday, it doesn't get any easier.
