Do these games count against a teams schedule and record? Are they a glorified exibition? Thanks in advance.

Anyone have updates? This should be a good measuring stick for the Falcons.

I dont know if they were man handled as much as they were out manned,I think Ironton was deeper benchwise. And with Ironton running like they were,it wore down the Falcons.
Minford did have a couple of nice 3pt shooters.
Ironton will be just like last year8-10 deep and you better have you track shoes on,cuz they are gonna run, run, run.
Good luck to both teams this year.

Good game by both teams for the first of the season. Foul shooting is one area the Tigers need to work on this week for sure and with Ashland coming up Saturday we may need a few extra points as they always play the Tigers tuff at home....
Sure was quiet in the book-bag section, everyone must have loved the officiating..............

My thoughts exactly, H-Cat and Turk. Minford displayed a spunky and talented backcourt, but struggled underneath against a bigger and deeper Tiger frontline, getting outrebounded 43-25. Cowgill led the Falcon attack with 18 points, and looks to be a very nice addition to the Minford fold. You can be successful at the high school level with good guards, and that will be Minford's strength this season.
Ironton showed a lot of rough edges that will need work, like 0-7 from the 3-point line, 3-14 from the free throw line, and commiting 19 personal fouls. But they can throw a lot of athletic bodies at people and make you play faster than what most teams in SE Ohio are comfortable playing. In addition to a sizeable rebounding edge, the Tigers inside game allowed them to shoot 51% overall. Kochendoerfer and Lamb shared scoring honors at 16 points apiece, with Lamb recording a double-double by garnering 11 rebounds. Defensively, the Tigers held Minford to 33% shooting, and recorded 14 steals. Overall team defense in the half court is still very much a work in progress for Ironton, however, and is a long ways from being what is was in 2002-2005 seasons.
A skilled Ashland team will pose a tough opener for the Tigers on Saturday. Ironton will have to clean up segments of its game in order to prevail. The Tigers will be seeing a lot of zone "D" I fear this season.

I'll have to check the Portsmouth schedule, but I would like to see the Fighting Tigers at their Holiday Classic just before Christmas.......I saw on JJ Huddle that Brookhaven looked good in the Harvest Prep Slam and Jam this past weekend........
Ironton will have another good season........and will contend for the SEOAL title.......
