if valley stays hot like they were on tuesday they could easily take this especially if the mohawks comeout and play the 1st quarter like they have then they might be in a hole they cant get out.
BUT if they play their game and can beat the press they will win should be a great game.

Northwest has some size with the Leslie kid inside but if the Mohawk guards can not handle the Valley pressure they will be in for a long night. This game is Valley`s home opener so the Indians will be sky high for this Contest. Valley is 2-1 having defeated 2 much taller teams in Grandview Heights and Western.

im gonna take northwest by around 15 because 3 of the starters on this years team was part of that debacle northwest had at valley last year and scarberry won't let them forget that and will have them fired up...if we slow valley down and limit their shots leslie will end up being to much for the indians to handle

So far up to this point in the season, Valley has played a much tougher non-league schedule in Western and Grandview Heights and came away with wins in both of those. Yes, Northwest might be 2-0 so far but those wins came against much weaker teams in Clay and Notre Dame. This should be a good game.

Valley wins this game by 10 plus, they have played all 3 of their games on the road and Northwest has not beat a decent team yet. If this game was be played at northwest it might be a close game. Valley way too quick for Northwest as the mohawks suffer their first loss.

I say Northwest by 15 at least due to the fact that valley will have problem with Leslie

Im picking Valley for this one, They will face size issues all season, but that hasnt been such a factor against grandview and western...The fast pace will tire their bigs out too quick and their guards will not stand the pressure, valley wins it, no idea by how much

Is Leslie that much better than Schanks? He couldn't beat them, or even come close.

no he isn't that much better than shanks as a post player but what makes leslie so dangerous is he can play outside, bring the ball up the court and his post moves inside are better than any other post player in the soc....Vince is strong and super athletic but im sure valley forced him to put the ball on the floor something he's not comfortable with while leslie is

Hank Leslie is probably the most conditioned player in the SOC so the pace will not hurt him one bit.

Even if hes the best conditioned player in the soc....Valley is most likely the best conditioned TEAM...last time I checked and im not sure, it takes 5 to win a basketball game, not one.

even though we do talk about leslie a lot "which I do just to help him get some notifications from college scouts because I know that's one of his big goals and im his friend so im just trying to help him out"......BUT I can assure that northwest is not just a 1 man show in fact to be honest I think the biggest x-factor for the mohawks tomorrow will be kreig crabtree and how he plays if he plays how he is capable of playing his combination of size speed and strength will be to much for any 1 valley defender

All Time, when I think of Shanks I think of a finesse player who wants to to be a guard more than a post player - not sure If I have seen him actually sit down and ask for the ball more than a couple of times a game? I guess he is strong for Soc 1 but not to many other places.

Like I said earlier having seen both teams it comes down to Northwest handling Valley`s pressure. Valley will have a hard time shooting as well as they did against Western but if they are getting layups off the Full Court Press it will be a long night for Northwest. The Mohawks have to get Valley in a half court game to win. Remember this is Valley`s home opener after 3 very tough games all on the road to open the season. Valley by 10+.

I think the match up problems are worse for NW. I'll assume Leslie will guard Gibson underneath. If so, who guards Utley (6'3). That leaves Yates (6'2) to be guarded on the perimeter, I assume Hall will guard Cunningham, Who is left to guard Arbaugh (6'1)? Grandview couldn't do it, Western couldn't do it, and for three quarters South Point didn't do it very well. I think in three of these matchups Valley has a big advantage.

the way i see it i believe eric thompson (5'10) who is as tough a kid as they come his game is defense will guard utley who I have a hard time believing is (6'3) because im (6'5) and when I have stood next to him he doesn't seem that tall to me...and kreig crabtree will probably have yates but kreig is close to (6'0) about (5'11)...and kenny crabtree will guard arbough and kenny is around (6'0) or (6'1) so in all actuality I don't believe team height will be an issue in this game like it will be when the mohawks play portsmouth or oak hill...the pace of the game will be the make or break point for either team.

Are you suggesting that both the Head Football Coach and Head Basketball coach would lie about Utley's height. When do you stand next to him? He seems 6'3 to me. B.J. Coleman is 6'5 and is about 2 inches taller than he is.
