Don't know much about this Catholic team but i heard through the grape vine that they were in the state tourney last year.... runner up possibly? Not too sure about them...who / what they lost...etc...???

Fed Hock well they aren't playing too well this year. Good luck though Lancers. hopefully we can turn it around this game.

Don't know much about Charleston Catholic, but I have heard they have a good ball team. I'm rooting for FH. But it's a tough road the next few games. Need to bring your A game, that's for sure. Good luck to Coach E and his boys.

Charleston Catholic was the Class A State Champ in WV in 2006 and 2007, then finished as runner-up in 2008, losing to Wheeling Central Catholic 53-49. The kids that attend school there are bright, motivated, and very well coached, but Catholic has graduated a bunch of talent in the last few years, including at least one D-III player and one D-I player. Their basketball facility is one of the finest HS facilities in the state, and shows how seriously they take their hoops. Charleston Catholic lost their opener to Williamstown 55-53 earlier this week, and the game recap can be found here:

http://newsandsentinel.com/page/content ... l?nav=5075

This is their roster this season taken from the WVSSAC website:

10 G BO MCKOWN 10 5'10 160
20 G SETH RITCHIE 11 5'11 155
22 F JOHN PAUL TUPTA 10 6'4 170
30 F MATT GOOLSBY 12 6'3 175
32 G JOHN BAIRD 12 6'0 180
40 C ALEX HIGGINS 11 6'2 215
42 C SAM WOOD 11 6'4 225
44 G STEPHEN GRESHAM 12 5'11 155
52 F TRISTAN RITCHIE 11 6'2 165
54 F LOGAN RILEY 11 6'3 160

It had to be one of the 8 or 10 A.D's in the last year that Federal Hocking has had.

I believe FH is playing this team at a holiday tournament in Marietta. So FH did not chose to play this particular team, if I understand things correctly. But seeing how CC did in 06, 07, 08 - it's likely to be a rough ride.

JayKay is correct. The match ups were determined by the tournament organizers.

Unfortunately FH received a tough draw.

Go Lancers. Play hard and let the chips fall where they may.

You get better by playing good teams but you can also play out of your league. This may be a good experience for the Lancers.

Fed Hock 50

Charleston Catholic 49

Lancers put up a big rally and then hang on. Foot to the floor, all out hustle and effort, from the Lancer men. Great win for Coach E and the boys. Let's put all of the noise behind us and go play ball like you showed you can tonight. Tommy G - Way to step up and drop down those 3's, that really changed their defensive strategy...

Oh, and there is a benevolance fund started for Coach Cottrill to send him flowers, as he's going to be in traction for at least a week after Coach E jumped into his arms looking for a hug at the end of the game.

Amos, I hope you are OK!!!!!

Congrats to the boys, what a great win. You all left it all out there on the floor!

Outstanding win for the Lancers and Coach E.

Congrats on the 50-49 win over Charleston Catholic.

Keep playing like that and the wins will come. Everybody contributed.

Also kudos to player of the game, Tyler Thompson .

What made Coach E think that Amos could hold him up? Amos is strong but Chris outweighs him by about a hundred pounds.

Nice game Lancers way to play hard.
Looks like Torrance may have his shot back.

Congrats Lancers! Big win tonight. Evan McCune gave the lancers some quality minutes and buckets tonight. Nice to see B. Torrence shooting the ball again. Great games controlling the tempo and offense by Smith and Thompson. Keep rolling fellas.

Coach Cottrill 145lbs - Coach E 2?5 Now that's the biggest mismatch of the evening. Cottrill was a scrapper back in his day though.

Truly was one of the most fun games to watch, in a very long time. I'm proud of the boys, and their coach!

Oh, and Amos, I know you are tough, so I'm sure you are fine!!!
