Warren at Belpre, 1/6
Warren off a tough loss to the Fort
Belpre off a big win over Waterford
Warren dominated in stretches during the last meeting (first game of the year for both teams)
but Belpre never gave up
As a Warren fan, I'm a little bit nervous about this game.

Re: Warren at Belpre, 1/6
again another tough road game for the warriors...hopefully they will play a little more defense than they did against fo frye...if they don't i think belpre wins by 10...if they decide to play on both ends of the court than they should win by at least 10...seen a couple of players onlyplaing on the offensive side of the court against fort frye so it could be interesting...definitly would like to see the ball get inside a little more...hoon and venham can both take over a game underneath but don't seem to get that chance...it might be a stretch but with the way jace knost plays underneath he could also be another threat at the varsity level....
Re: Warren at Belpre, 1/6
Belpre will need to play pressure defense just the way they did in the second half against Waterford. Markie Tate needs to do what he did against Waterford, just go he can make alot of things happen and he is dangerous when he is on, Waderker and Parsons need to keep up the good defense, and Loyland, AZAR, and Watkins need to bang underneath and postion to get rebounds. We have the talent and the ablility to beat Warren. All they need to do is believe it and believe in on another and they can do it. GO EAGLES

The Eagles will have to play another game like they did in the 2nd half against Waterford if they are going to pull off another upset against the Warriors. I'm not sure if the pressure will have the same effect against Warrens fine guards but Belpre must keep the pressure on them and Loyland and Azar must keep Hebb and Venham in check and off the boards. Belpre can put together another pressure packed defensive game at the Eagles Nest and come away with their 2nd home upset in a row.
Eagles - 65
Warren - 62

if the eagles are hitting like they were and the d stays the same way, the eagles will pull off a win. Tate, Parsons, Slattery, and Wadeker need to keep shooting. Azar and Loyand and watkins did a great job against cunningham. Lets see if they can keep it up.

Re: Warren at Belpre, 1/6
The Warriors better decide to play defense or it's going to get ugly this season. Portsmouth, Chilli, Ironton, Marietta . . . they are all waiting.
Belpre will not be easy to beat playing on their home court. Which Warren team will show-up? The team that ground out an excellent win against Maysville with tough defense and an unselfish transition game or . . . the team that lost to FF with the worst defense that I have EVER seen by a Warren team. Not exaggerating. I'm sure there's been a defensive performance that bad somewhere in the history of the program, but not when I was watching. I have never seen a Warren team give up lay up, after lay up with apparently no will whatsoever to try and do anything to stop it.
It looked like everyone thought the guy driving to the hoop was someone else's problem. The Warriors are not good enough offensively to win with one dimensional basketball. If they can't figure things out, they could be in for a long season. Still tons of potential . . .
Oh, and I love all the "histrionics" that are now on display by this team. I love the jawing at refs, the yelling after a made shot, the whining after fouls, all the nifty little "showboat" elements they have started all of a sudden. It adds a nice touch to a losing effort. Sigh.

fan... i think you hit the nail on the head...that was a horrible display of defense and sportsmanship by the warriors saturday night...would like to see the warriors have half the discipline that fort frye had...not real sure where that all went to in maddox's scheme...like i said before the warriors play like they did against fort frye..belpre wins by at least 10...if the team that played against maysville shows up it could get ugly....
Re: Warren at Belpre, 1/6
wwf, sadly i also have to agree.
however, it's just one game and we've got to shift our focus.
What makes you a warrior is to avoid slipping to playing at a level that is anything less than the best of your ability (saturday night).
What makes you a warrior is not blaming the refs or someone else for the teams struggles. we're not belpre.
What makes you a Warrior is your ability to get back up when somebody knocks you down.
and thats exactly what we're going to do at belpre tuesday night.
go blue.

Re: Warren at Belpre, 1/6
Are the Warrior fans going to start chanting overrated at Belpre before the game starts?
Re: Warren at Belpre, 1/6
Since there wasn't many games in town, I went to the Belpre/Waterford game the other night. Felt the big kid for Waterford has great ability but does not work very hard. Belpre has some good athletes but lacks discipline (talking trash, slapping the floor, getting in other players faces and clapping, etc.). Amazed how many coaches they have in the stands too...lol. And who was the guy along the wall tht thought he was coaching...he was killing me...lol!
I will give Warren the edge on this one!!
As for the new uniforms, yuk! When did Gray become a belpre school color?

Re: Warren at Belpre, 1/6
Those were Warrior students chanting overrated.
Game--Warren will need to play better than the first Belpre game, they are much improved. If the Warriors play defense like in the Maysville upset,
Warren easily, by 8-10.
If Warren really has forgotten how to play defense, then Belpre will not go away.
Good luck, blue.

Warren should win. Yes, starters are logging lots of minutes, but that's no excuse. The Warriors need to play hard on both ends of the court and take down Belpre in their house.
Gotta wish both teams good luck (too many good friends at Belpre not to).
We'll see who takes care of business tonight.

It was great to see Warren fans chanting overrated, the player thumping there chest and getting in FF players faces, and FF players going about there business like there coach does, just another win for the very hard working FF boys.

Couldn't agree more that the "overrated" chant took me by surprise. Being a warrior fan and all I remember thinking to myself, am I hearing what I think I'm hearing BEFORE the game starts? The student section did a nice job all game long, but I hope they learn from this one that cheers like "overrated" and "PVC" should be held until the middle or end of the 4th quarter when the game is well in hand, because that "overrated PVC" team just whipped your butt!
C'mon students, don't ever give the other team more incentive to want to beat your warriors.
Good Luck against Belpre tonight. Play hard, but play with class!

AWESOME game WARRIORS! Belpre could not handle the pressure DEFENSE. Great transition basketball!! The final score was 81-64. Not close. The ENTIRE team contributed. Starters were excellent, bench was excellent. Hoon had his best game thus far and, SETH HARRIS!! Awesome! I see him contributing a bunch from this point forward. He played great!
Keep it up WARRIORS and wins will keep coming. Nobody (and I mean it, nobody) will walk over you if you play well rounded WARREN WARRIOR BASKETBALL like you played tonight.
Good luck to Belpre the rest of the way.
CONGRATS WARRIORS!
Big. Bad. Blue.
Oh, and there was no "show boat" chitter chat, whiny stuff tonight. Beeeeutiful.
JV won 50-34 (I think).

Sounds like Belpre's defense let them down.
Who were the leading scorers for the Warriors?
