I think this game could be closer than people think. Belpre is a hard place to play at. Last year it seemed as though anything that any player on the Belpre team through up in the air went through the net. Alex is more comfortable on a bigger floor and have had a long basketball lay off.
But I'm taking the Spartans for the win!

spartacat, i think alexander just caught belpre at a wrong time last year when alex came to the nest. It was the first game after Pfalzgraf transferred and i think this belpre team felt like they had something to prove. I believe when you are referring to "everything they threw up went through the net" that Eric Lynch, i believe, had 7 threes and i believe 25 points. By far his best game of the season was against alex at home last year. Belpre has to get their shooters (Parsons, Tate, Slattery) the ball in positions to shoot against alex's 2-3 zone. If belpre can catch fire from outside, then they could take this one. I hop my eagles can pull out a win in this one at home. 1-3 in league play wont be good. But, too much Barnhouse, Frost and Tolar.
Alex 68
Belpre 61

Eaglefan 1 - Thanks for the info. Yes, it was Lynch that was on fire last year. That is Alexander's luck...it seems like everyone has their best game against us.
Good luck to both teams tomorrow......of course more good luck to the Spartans than the Eagles.

Is Alex back to getting healthy? I know they were having some injury issues early on, but have not followed them much. If healthy they are pretty good with their depth and skill.

Weather or not Belpre has any chance of upsetting Alex depends on which defense they bring tonight. Will it be the pressing energetic defense used against Waterford or the lackluster one used against Warren. If the Eagles can pressure Alex's guards like they did Waterford's they have a very good chance but if they play as they did against Warren, then Frost and Barnhouse will have a field day and the results will probably be the same as it was against the Warriors. Hopefully the coaches will have them ready to play like they did against Waterford and come out of the Eagles Nest with another victory.Good luck to both teams and GO EAGLES.

That is the problem, the same defenses and skeems do not work against all teams. They have to adjust. Neither the boys or girls coach seems to know how to do this. The girls team finished the game last night against Vinton with 4 girls because she didn't make adjustments in her style of play and 4 girls fouled out. Warrens guards are much better than Waterfords. No disrespect to them intended. But Belpre brought the same energy in both games, atleast the first half of Warren, not so much the 2nd half. Good luck to both teams!!!

ssbball is right. Its not belpres intensity, they play with the same intensity every game. Warrens guards were 10x better than waterfords guards. Plummer thinks because the defense worked against Waterford then it will work against Alexander. I like the thought of Belpre mixing up defenses (Plummer does do a good job of this), but when something isnt working, you need to get out of it and try something new. Against Warren he just stayed in that same defense all night and it wasn't working. You have to have a new gameplan and scheme for every game (Plummer does not do a good job of this). Belpre can match up with Alex fairly well, so i would like to see Belpre go straight, pressure, half court man to man. Then mix some stuff in from there. With all that said, i would love to see the Eagles pull of the upset. But Alex better bring there A-game if they wanna win at the Nest. I will stick with my prediction on the score, GO EAGLES!!

Normally I would say Alexander cause........ Well they are just that good, BUT, I got that gut feeling that an upset is due. Belpre by 2 in a nailbiter. Dont know why, either. Changed my mind from my original post.

I'd be really surprised if Belpre comes within 15 points of us. Alexander coasts through this game.

Not sure of the final but heard the Spartans won by around 16 points. Any details?
