Should we play more games in Dec??? We got just over 30 days left and 11 games to play. It going to be alot games the next month.
Re: Portsmouth vs Jackson Tue 20 Jan
Sometimes the other team is too athletic.
This is the case in this matchup.
Jackson keeping it close will require hot shooting AND poor poor decisions by Portsmouth.

Re: Portsmouth vs Jackson Tue 20 Jan
Jackson has improved since the first meeting, and Portsmouth must guard the Ironmen's perimeter shooters. PHS is going to try a new wrinkle starting with tonight's game........won't tell you what it is but I really believe this will give the team a big boost.......

Portsmouth freshman team lost no score given. The JV team lost 39 to 24.
Re: Portsmouth vs Jackson Tue 20 Jan
Jackson is leading the Trojans 40 to 36 at the half.
Did the Trojans go up there overlooking the Ironmen???

Jackson was the better team
I have my doubts about us finishing above 500 this year after the way we played tonight.

Re: Portsmouth vs Jackson Tue 20 Jan
Congratulations to the Ironmen on the win.......plain and simple......they outplayed Portsmouth from start to finish........and the perplexing slide of the Trojans continued last night. Hard to believe that this is the same team that started 5-0.......
Anthony Williams had a big game for Portsmouth, scoring 22 points with a good number of rebounds, while Forrest Johnson played perhaps his best game of the year, as he came off the bench to score 12. Last night's performance by Forrest should earn him a starting spot in the next game, in my opinion, given the team's recent skid. Forrest also played hard on defense as well, converting a steal into a fast break layup.
Williams has been a model of consistency for the Trojans all season.......he is the leading scorer at almost 18 a game, while also leading the team in rebounding, probably averaging double figures........his play should earn him First Team All-District and All-State honors..........this kid has put up the numbers in every game.......I think he has had double digit scoring in every game except one.........GREAT JOB, ANTHONY!!!
Portsmouth's defense in the paint was at times non-existent.......time after time Jackson scored with an easy layup, and Morgan Dobbins chipped in with some long range shooting.........3 or 4 three pointers........it was frustrating watching him get open looks........the Trojans' defense has progressively gotten worse during this 5 game stretch in which PHS has gone 1-4.
I am just very frustrated to see such a talented team do a complete about face in such a short period of time..........I was very optimistic about this team at the start of the season, but right now I feel very much like biggdowgg.......if Portsmouth doesn't turn it around in the next few games..........AND THEY CAN........THEY HAVE THE TALENT.........then they could end up under .500.........unthinkable after that exciting 5-0 start........our schedule will not allow W's with performances like last night.........
I can say that Portsmouth's fate in the tournament draw at Waverly will be fascinating........where will the coaches want to put this team?.......knowing what they're capable of...........for a top seed, PHS's tumble cannot be good news..........
Stay tuned.........it's going to be very interesting as the basketball continues to bounce in a strange way for the Portsmouth Trojans.
