Thoughts on this game. I look for Alex to take it. In fact, I think the spartan men can play out remainder of their schedule without a loss. Good luck spartans and remember get out and support the lady spartans tonight. They face Vinton at home.

Good luck with that. I think Alex boyz are playing some of the best ball around, but they still have 10 or 11 games left. I dont think they will lose to Meigs but I could see them with at least 1 more loss, if not 2. BTW Alex by 20 over Meigs.

No chance of an upset here. Look for Alexander to kill Meigs.

Alex is capable of finishing the season with only one loss given no injuries. They are playing that good. The schedule is Meigs, Vinton, Athens, Belpre, Trimble, Wellston, FH, Vinton, Athens, Meigs, Nelsonville. Only three teams have not been faced yet. All others defeated. Athens will be a hand full but doable. Vinton may be tough at Vinton but again its one they can win. Time will tell. But Im betting on the spartans.

Alex will win.
Meigs is a trainwreck that is only getting worse.
Meigs has been hit hard this year by kids quitting, transferring, getting injured, ect..
There is always enough talent at meigs every year to compete, but it never pans out due to the numerous headcases between players, parents, and coaches.
Kinda sad cause they could have had several good teams there.

Friday Meigs played disorganized, sloppy, had countless turnovers, at times couldn't buy a bucket, even had a player walk out and still only lost to Vinton by 7.
I don't know how Vinton is 8-1? They didn't impress me at all.
Alex should win the league this year.

To bad to hear about the problems, try to get Mr.Bartrum to coach,I remember when him,Chauncey,Robinson and don't know the other's that played, but man they were a good ball team to watch.Lots of talent. He would light a fire under the kids butt and not take any crap because he is a respected man in the Meigs area.Awsome to have had a area guy in the NFL.
Back to the game,I will take my Spartans with a win. 8)

Alex can play Jv vs Meigs and win.Coach can't seem to get players to buy into team first concept.Partly players fault, partly coach's and mostly parents.Coach Ewing cant't act like a coach Caldwell, dosen't have the wins that bring that kind of respect needed to pull thoose kinds of stunts.Kids need to learn that the game is not about them and things have to be the coach's way not theirs, and that will not happen when little Johnny keeps hearing coach put down at home because each beleives his/her child is the next savior of Meigs basketball.

these guys have sure enuff bought the ewing system. with ewing it's about me,me,me. they have learned that from coach. this team, well not team more like group of players, have had it drilled in their heads. they are great if they lose it is because it's somebody elses fault. will's, southerns calwell, scott wolfe, eric tolar, certainly not theirs or coache's. who's head will explode first? ewings or well's? cory isn't a team captain when he has been a good trooper for 4 years. what has jacob done?
talent? yes
attitude? absolutely
ego? you bet
winner? nope forgot the h

they really need kennedy. he is mr. basketball here in seohio.
btw. it ain't the parents when has anyone said anything about grimm, wolfe or chancey.
we had a coach that cared. 1 parents complained. 1 and he was out. so don't say parents, kids or admin. if coach is souly responsible for w's then he is for l's

Boy, just based on what has been posted here, I'm not sure if it can get much worse at Meigs. This has been an ongoing drama now for what, three years? Seems like things went to hell-in-a-handbasket when Carl Wolfe decided to coach the girls.

Just my opinion, but it just sounds like a bad soap opera down there. That is a shame.

Attitude usually starts at home so yes it's the parents problem also, and actually that would make it mostly the parents problem.

Carl Wolfe?
Meigs was mediocre during Wolfe's best years. What was his best
year at meigs? I think he was around .500. Wolfe obviously wasn't the answer. Steely Dan, don't try to make Wolfe out to be some coaching legend at Meigs when that clearly was not the case.

the attitudes are jacob's and coaches. the rest are fine.
jacob thinks he is too great for pomeroy and coach thinks he is the next dean smith. a coach sets the table in his sport especially on this level.
this stuff is not present on football and i am proof it ain't in baseball.so yea the attitudes are not the parents.

Meigs has a history of running off coaches. Certainly none of them had a great deal of success (other than Drummer and Childs) but they were loaded with talent and even they quit coaching. So who knows, I certainly do not. I do know that everybody judges by wins and losses and not that a team is as good as it can become, which doesn't always translate into wins. I know that success is a collaborative effort between players and coaches ( unless of course the kids are so talented that it doesn't matter - and we have all seen those kind of teams and would not be to eager to jump on a bus with them either)

Spartans win this one going away in The Alley.

I think a better argument can be made that the program went into a downward spiral when Stout left and Wolfe took over. Wolfe was 25 games under .500 with the boys...even with his "recruits" mostly from Gallia County. His record with the girls team is under .500 eventhough he padded his schedule to pick up easy wins like he did with the boys. Wolfe dropped the bigger schools and plays small schools like Wahama, South Gallia, and Eastern twice a year.
