SV was on a 2 hr delay due to cold this morning, but roads are all clear. (Still hilly, but clear) So, as far as I know it's still on from this end.

wsaz said East was closed today, that is why I am asking...if the roads are fine then they could still play....my guess is East was closed because possibly the heater stopped working since i heard they were having a problem with it the other day

Tartanblue called and said East won, and a kid from Symmes Valley scored 37 points.

Tibbs from Symmes Valley had 37 I believe.... He IS the SOC I players on the year....Western can say Shanks is all they want but if Tibbs doesnt get it something is wrong...kid can flat out shoot the ball

cant remember East by 5 or so....Symmes Valley shot terrible from the line while East only missed a couple from the line. Now they need to get ready for Notre Dame tuesday to get a win back from the Titans and stay in the SOC I race

It will come down to whoever's team wins the SOC...there best player will win POY.......Also.....fair or not,Shanks, and Osborne have a slight advantage because they are seniors. Not taking anything away from Tibbs, the kid can play.....I just don't see Symmes Valley competing with Western and Eastern for the league...I think East is the only team that will stay in the race with Western, and Eastern.TartanBlue is right...East has a big match-up with Notre Dame tommorow and have to win that game.Western should handle Green, and I expect a very close game between my Eagles and New Boston....NB plays everyone tough and even tougher at home example:lost 75-77 to Western on a buzzer beater.Eastern will have to play well to get the win.

I agree with Beaverlover. SOC1 POY will end up either Shanks or Osborne depending upon who wins the league. However, everyone that I've talked to says it is very clear that Tibbs is the best player in the league. The scary thing is he is only a junior.

seinor or not shanks has never taken over a ballgame,I think he plays for a good team with a very good gaurd and if he was on a team with very little varsity exsperience you would not see him put the #s tibbs does night after night.remember sv is playing with very little varsity exsperience,as for the best player in the league you should go by stats not by grade the one who can change the game by himself.I have never seen a box and 1 put on shanks.but shanks does mix in well with the team.if all the coaches in the soc1 is telling each other you have to stop tibbs which they are then he should get the poy. no matter what grade, the player deseves it I would not want poy only because i am a senior thats disrespectful to tibbs.they should go by stats

POY also needs to be THE BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE not the best player on the conference champ....in which it still is Tibbs from SV

This is a question to anyone with any knowledge of the East basketball program. I remember when I was a kid East basketball was a machine winning 5 straight SOC titles and also had a good JV program along with Jr. high and Peewee. My question is are the JV and Jr high teams doing any good at East and is there even Pee-Wee league anymore? Does coach Bradford have anything to do with the young kids like host clinics? I want to see that program come back like it once was even though I think Bradford is one of the best around and they have been pretty solid the last few years winning a couple of titles but it all starts in the Pee-Wee days.

how the POY is chosen gets debated every single year and this year is no different. it SHOULD by all rights go to a player on the SOC champion team. it gives the team more incentive to WIN. what would be the purpose of a championship if the winners didnt receive any honor or recognition? just my opinion...

So your saying then if Western was not in the running for the SOC like Symmes Valley, you would be completely fine with Tibbs winning even though you knew Shanks was the best in the league....
If they are going to call it the PLAYER OF THE YEAR then let it be THE BEST player in the league, not the best player on the conference champs. Tibbs could start on any SOC I team and probably any SOC II team and still put up the scoring he is....could Shanks?
