Glad you are driving and not me! It is supposed to start snowing again this weekend too! I don't know anything about Peebles but the Pointers have some really big men underneath and some good three point shooters. One who spends way to much time on the bench but I guess I am not the coach so whatever. The Pointers play both games at home this weekend with non conference foes and looking to start the 2nd half of the league play next week. Pointers must win out in the league to share the championship.Safe driving to all you Peebles fans.

I saw Peebles play South Point last year. I was not impressed with anyone other than Mayo. I heard he moved. Peebles should win this one.

You are right about Blake Justice and he has played much better recently and is shooting more consistently from the three point line now. However, Peebles has some very solid players in addition to Justice who don't get the recognition they deserve. Tyler Caudill has really stepped up his game and has regularly scored 12-15 points in recent games. Andrew Seaman has played well as has Tyler Arnold. Last game, Nathan Stephens was re-inserted into the starting line-up. He started all season last year as a sophomore but has been coming off the bench this year. Nathan really played hard and gave the team some much needed energy and hustle. He doesn't score a lot but does give effort and it seems to be contagious to the other players on the court. I really think Peebles is going to take off and have a great chance to win out the rest of their games and finish the year 17-3 going into the tournament.

Peeblesbuck,I saw them againist Alexander when all of drama happened in the last 1 second of the game!I am impressed with their guard play alot but they dont seem like a real deep team,After the 1st 5 there seems to be a drop off in talent!I also saw their district game last year when they lost their legs late in that game againist Ironton,Do they have any other kids on the JV team they could bring up to where they could develop some more depth?Just making a judgement based on the 2 times I have seen them play,IDK it may be different now???

Does anyone know what South Points record is?Peebles is 7-3 losing at Athens, and twice to the undefeated North Adams. There wont be any players brought up,but they do use 7 players.

You are dead on with your judgement. The 3 losses they have this year came down to the same thing. They get tired by the end of the game and cannot maintain the same level of intensity. Granted they lost to a great North Adams team twice, but they do need to develop some depth in order to compete with the better teams.

Even after the long bus ride, the Indians will roll in this one! Justice, Seaman, Arnold, Caudill will be to much for the Pointers! Nice to see Stephens back in the rotation, I know he is a player that plays hard and with a lot of heart! Is he playing a wing or pt guard? I didnt know if they were looking to get Seaman more shots or not?

Peebles is defn. only about 7 deep right now. But I look for coach Lawhorn to improve on that by the end of the year. I think they could possibly go 8 or 9 by the end of the year, which would be plenty with the shape coach Lawhorn has these boys in. I look for Andy Countryman to be one to step it up for Peebles towards the end of the year and get Seaman a few minuets to catch his breath. Countryman would make 8 deep and I think any one of the 5 remaining bench players could possibly step it up and give a couple quality minuets...at least on defense.

Yes, the former University of Rio Grande coach whom I best remember for bringing Sherron Wilkerson to URG after his falling out with Bob Knight at Indiana.

To help answer a few questions from previous posts.

John Lawhorn is the head coach and the former head coach at Rio Grande and once previously at Peebles.

I agree about Andy Countryman figuring some in the rotation in the last half the year. He has only played a few 4th quarters of varsity action this season in mop-up time so he has plenty of quarters left. I would still look for him to get three quarters of JV ball most nights.

Stephens looked to be playing mainly at an off-guard in the game against West Union, but could possibly spell Seaman some. Countryman may get those minutes though as it gets toward the end of the year.

I still feel Peebles has a shot to win out and finish 17-3 although things will need to be consistent for four quarters every night out for that to happen.

hook em horns......It's hard not to think of that whole situation with Sherron (I got head butted by Bobby Knight on national TV) Wilkerson when you hear Lawhorn's name. He was a heckuva college coach. I believe I was at the game in which he went over 400 career wins at Rio.....but having Sherron that season he had to sacrifice several wins and I think it took him back under 400 for good.

SP is 6-4 but they havent had any big wins, there wins have been against teams they should have beat. every game that they have been the underdog theyve showed it.

Slamdunk, I mostly agree with your assessment but have to disagree that it just came down to that. In my opinion, what beat Peebles both times against North Adams was forcing shots down the stretch, not running the offense, taking themselves out of the game. In the game at NA, they were up 1 going into the 4th, North Adams hits a quick couple shots, and Peebles goes in panic mode, forcing too many bad shots, causing turnovers. Forcing has been more of a contributor than anything else.
