Well no need to worry, two players wont be playing, Guess who the VARSITY PLAYER IS?
Markie Tate. He should be out now, the AD allowed him to play last nine weeks, when he didnt have the grades, How can Belpre get away with that?

FYI belprefamily...

Per the OHSAA - to be eligible to play sports in grades 9-12 in Ohio, a student must have passing grades in a minimum of 5 one-credit courses. There is no minimum GPA required.

At Belpre - to be eligible to play sports, a student must have passing grades in a minimum of 5 one-credit courses (not including P.E. class) and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0

If you are a Belpre student and you pass the 5 required courses but have a GPA between 1.0 - 1.9 then you are ineligible (by Belpre's standards) for the first 3 weeks of the next 9 week grading period, (even though you are eligible by state standards). If after the first 3 weeks of the next 9 week grading period, you have a 2.0 then you are permitted to rejoin the team and play. If you do not have the 2.0 after the first 3 weeks, you are done for the remainder of the 9 week grading period.

Belpre's students take a 4 year college prep program to earn their Honors Diploma. The college prep program includes at 3 least credits of math (Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry) and 3 credits of science with 1 credit being Chemistry. They must also take at least 3 years of 1 foreign language or 2 years each of 2 different foreign languages.

Even if you don't earn an Honors Diploma, all students must pass the 3 credits of math including Algebra I, 3 credits of science including Chemistry and the above mentioned requirments for foreign language.

Starting with the class of 2011, they need 4 credits of math, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and another higher math class such as either Calculus or AP Calculus and 4 credits of science including Chemistry and Physics. The foreign language requirment stays the same.

Kind of a tough schedule even if you are not playing sports. I should know because my child takes these classes, has a 3.5 GPA and plays sports.

I am more proud of his GPA than anything else.

I don't think it is a good idea to bash anyone on this forum about grades unless you are talking about your own child.

The AD is also the girl's softball coach at Belpre, a very honorable and reputable coach and AD. Please don't say things that you don't know all the facts too. I would be extremely surprised if your comment were remotely true. Coach Cox is not a rule breaker.

Please be careful posting negative information like this and naming students! I feel that this should not be allowed to remain on this forum. Wasn't it enough that maybe someone is eneligible without naming anyone.

I think the requirement is 5 credits, and a 1.67 gpa with 1 F allowed.

From the OHSAA...

"...a student must be currently enrolled in at least 5 one credit courses or the equivalent, each of which counts toward graduation, and, received passing grades in at least 5 one credit courses or the equivalent, each of which counts toward graduation, during the last grading period."

The OHSAA makes no mention of a minimum GPA for it's requirement to be eligible for athletics for any of it's member schools.

So what exactly does this mean for the players involved? I have heard that they are only going to have to miss 2 games. If they are ineligible for the first 3 weeks of the next 9 week grading period that would be the rest of the regular season. Will they be eligible for the tournament?
