Smithson has been stepping up a lot lately...He in my opinion has taken the Leadership position! I look for him and the rest off the team to step up their game and come off with the win!
GO INDIANS!!!!!

I think that if smithson keeps playing like he has the last couple of games that the indians will do fine... They beat sv at sv because smithson stepped up... Penwell and hall played very flat and he had to lead them... I have said all along that they needed a true leader and i feel that smithson has taken that role on... Vince will also have to have a good game...

I really disagree with this post. In fact it's downright stupid. The win at SV was a team effort and not the Smithson Show you would like to say it was. If any player was to be singled out for stepping up it was JACOB LESLIE. I don't know what you think makes Smithson the new Messiah but I don't think the stats are backing your claims. Check the Gazette. I know you and your fellow posters are trying to get him some POY attention, but you'd better serve the team if you'd stop the back patting and help the boy focus on winning. Nothing hurts teams worse than someone getting on an ego trip. That's my opinion. I'm entitled to it.

I think Shanks will win POY although I believe Kris Tibbs is the best player in the league but his team is not in contention.Right or wrong, thats the way it goes every year, usually the league champs best player wins it.So right now,I see it as.........
POY Year:Vince Shanks
SOC 1st Team
Garret-East
Osborne-Eastern
Shanks-Western
Smithson-Western
Tibbs-Symmes Valley
POY Year:Vince Shanks
SOC 1st Team
Garret-East
Osborne-Eastern
Shanks-Western
Smithson-Western
Tibbs-Symmes Valley

Maybe Penwell, but I already had 2 Western players plus East is still in the race for the leauge.Garret is a good guard and a very good shooter.

Beaverlover---looks like from your post you're thinking Western wins the league --lets not get hasty---league play is not done yet and anything can happen----Western plays us tonite and East tomorrow nite---there could end up a 3 way tie by Sunday morning.

flip of the coin on this one. If the Eagles show up ready to play they are more than capable of winning. If not, I look for a long night for Eastern. Anybody's game.

Beaverlover-I agree with your choices for SOC 1. I agree Tibbs is an excellent player but you should check out the player stats on MaxPreps.com. I'd like to have seen Shanks take as many shots this season as Tibbs has! It would have been scary...But no one could ever accuse Shanks of being selfish. I personally think that the winning team should have the POY if they win the league and it's a close choice between two players. In this case, Shanks would have the edge over Tibbs. If one of the other teams manages to pull out a league upset, then the POY is up for grabs. As I said earlier on a different thread, too much emphasis is put on this and not enough on a deep tourney run. At least by a few people...I wish the same people who like to post on how great their boy is doing would name me the winner of the last five SOC POY's! Then ask themselves which teams made it to the Convo. Teams get remembered. Individuals...not so much. Unless you are a superstar and I personally haven't seen any superstars this year.
Also, to all the Eastern fans who might read this thread. Please ignore some of the posters on here from Western. It's a small group of players, friends/girlfriends of players, and parents who can write things and make the whole place look bad. Not all the players are thinking they want to "humiliate" Eastern. Intelligent players are definitely going to play their hearts out to get the win, but they also respect your team and coach. We are looking forward to another great rivalry game and we just want you all to remember...tonight's OUR Homecoming and it is Friday the 13th ! GO INDIANS!

True you are entitile to a opinion... No matter how stupid it is... I have been just as hard on smithson as i have praised him... If you look at the begining of the season i was extremely down on smithson... Now that he is playing very well i feel that i need to give credit where credit is due... Jake Leslie did play well, however if he can shut Tibbs down, Tibbs cant be that great... Leslie would have never been able to shut Mccloud or white down and they were good players... Not taking anything away from leslie... And as far as Shanks is concerned, i think that he hasnt been playing to his full potential... He will have to step his game up in order to impress me... He is a good player but he has not gotten my POY vote yet...

I'm from the Western area and I just wanted to make it known that i'm not a player, girlfriend of any player or a parent! I don't like it that you are jumping to conclusions. Also, if you think I amjust just getting on here to say whatever and just talk up one player your wrong. I know a lot about basketball not only because i've watched it for years but because i've been around coaches all my life I even live with a former coach.

Your right i am a friend of the western players... I played with most of them and i am also family of one of the players but you havent heard me talk about him much... You cant just dismiss my opinion for that anymore than i can dismiss yours... I know basketball... For the last 7 or 8 years basketball was what i lived for... I know people who have coached and played on championship teamswho would agree with what i say on here 9 times out of 10.. If you want my opinion on who the POY will be i think it will probably be Shanks... He has had some great games this year... But smithson has stepped up and played some great ball this year...

POY has nothing to do with me so I don't care about it really...Whoever gets it Congrats! I really just enjoy watching Western play!
GO INDIANS!
Baller I guess we look like we are parents now! If we were parents that would mean that we had kids at like 4. Also we look like girlfriends of the players well that's just gross not not correct in any way shape or form. Friends i'll give him that but it's not like we go out with these kids except for maybe one and we barely talk about him on here. To me this is just crazy being accused that we don't know anything about ball we just get on here and talk about our kids that we don't have, boyfriend on the team that we don't have, but whatever we know the truth and who we are so....

It would appear I have struck a nerve. My bad. I didn't realize I was talking to/about the dudes who actually do the choosing of POY and all. Maybe someone can tell Shanks he needs to step it up because you think he isn't playing up to his full potential. LOL! I'm glad you two (Sideliner008 & baller2408) are so much more knowledgeable than all us other losers on here. I feel ashamed I actually can't confess that I have "been around coaches all my life" or "live with a former coach". Heck, I've never even spent the last 7 or 8 years living for basketball. I just go to games and try to make intelligent conversation. You couldn't even defend your comments without slamming Leslie once again baller2408. In case this passed you by, Leslie isn't playing McCleod or White. Give the kid credit. He did an awesome job. And Tibbs is good whether you can admit it or not. Did you get on here and stab Smithson when he scored like 8 or 9 points against PV? I remember the Holiday Classic McCleod's Junior year he scored like 6 points. Did that make him not that great? NO! He had an off night or someone did a Leslie on him. Sorry, I still stand by my former opinion. Oh, and shouldn't you kids be getting back to class? Vic is probably wanting to tell you something important.

As for class I actually am getting back to it in Portsmouth Ohio at Shawnee State University Vic is no where near me buddy! As for Leslie I have said nothing but nice things about him. Baller was giving you an example and you just must not have understood. He didn't even say anything about the PV game because he was disappointed in the whole team. Also, as for your earlier comment that the players have respect for Eastern's players and coaches well Western needs to respect their coach. I will be the first to say I have a personal reason why I am not to found of him as a person but not as a coach. He is who the board got to fill the position and we have to respect him and what he has done for these boys.
