Chillicothe is won and done. Next is the dreaded Burg. It sure would be nice to catapult into the tournaments on a good note.

This should be a good one. Burg just came off a shaky win at South Webster, not sure what Burg team will come, but since it is at Burg gives them a little headstart.

The Pirates may not be an offensive juggernaut, but their defense is some of the best I have seen in many years. I think only one team has scored more the 60 on them all year and they have held a couple of opponents in the 20's and quite a few in the 30's and 40's. I look for this game to be low scoring as well and probably in the 40's for both teams.
Good luck Pirates!!!

most of the scores have been in the 40s because burg can't score many more than that. most teams have been held to the 40s because they can't score more than that. hopefully, it will be at least entertaining.

I have to disagree with on the Burgs opponents not being able to score more than in the 40's. Oak Hill put up over 80 points on both Valley and Minford and beat them both by 40 points and the Pirates held the Oaks in the 40's. Waverly was putting up some good numbers as well until they played the Burg. I'd almost be willing to bet that if you checked the schedules of the Pirates opponents this season their lowest scoring output of the year came against the Burg.

Valley scored it's lowest 44 twice this season, the W over Burg, and the L @ Oak Hill

The fact is, the Burg does have great defense and that usually doesn't change...ever. Barrick always has that team playing top noch D. As for their offense, they do struggle to put up points. They struggle shooting outside, as we saw against South Webster the other night, Gallia, and many more that I have watched. They play a slow down game as well, which is part of the low scoring on both ends, they hold the ball a lot and control the clock. But, I think this game as well will flounder some where in the mid 40's. This will be a war! Plus, can't wait to watch the Burg cheer block! hehehe.
Burg 46-Waverly 42

Waverly should not be intimidated by the Pirates this time around and should be allot more experienced in dealing with the pressure.
I told the young men after the Chilly victory to savor the win that night but we want the Pirates Friday night.
I hope they're having a great couple days of practice to prepare for the trip to Wheelersburg - I know they want it!

This team needs to be able to bring the ball up the floor without having to use Derrick and Harrison everytime in order to get into a good flow on the offensive end- I don't care how we do it just as long as we do - then i think we can do well- what I hate the most is when Roback spends a lot of time away from the basket instead of getting rebounds and attacking the basket- when Martin is out there it takes away from his ability to dominate the paint.
If we are able to move the ball well - we win- I am not nearly as worried about the defense.- however, Burg will be sky-high.... its the last home game of the season.

Hopfully both teams have a couple good days of practice in because this is going to be a great game and it's going down to the final quarter. I feel that with Waverly coming in off a upset over Chilly, they have a lot of momentum. The Burg coming off of a scary win at South Webster are looking to show people what they are made of. Stegman is ready to step up and have the best game of the year and with help from Schankweiler, Ward, Lang, Miller, Whitley, Kemper and the rest of the team helping it's going to be a great night for HIGH BASKETBALL in the SOCII.
Lets go Pirates give us a victory.
BURG--56
Waverly--48

Crazy legs,
I really hope you are correct! Tell your buddy soccerfix to please quit talking about all-league and lets worry about regular season- you can have all the individual awards you want- i would rather see a long tourney run and if Waverly kids even begin to think about who is all league it will be a huge mistake! Who cares who scores points, and who cares who makes all league - lets just win baby!!

What a tough run of games for the Tigers to wind down the regular season, both teams want to use this game as momentum heading into the tourney.
Tigers need to control the glass like they did against Chilli. and again with the bigs bringing the ball up court I really like Robertson in the lineup makes them even tougher inside. KNOW YOUR ROLE
Good luck to Wheelersburg
Go Tigers bring home a W tonight

burg plays good defense but they are more likely to control the tempo. they may use 30-45 seconds per possession. problem is they cannot convert on these posessions and that keeps the score down. also impacts the opponents. .lock-down D maybe. tempo definately

My thoughts exactly. I was about to post this same thing. Coach Barrick will find ways to be competitive. Burg will play solid defense and if they struggle offensively he will control the offesive tempo as well by slowing the offense down. This is also a big part of why their opponents do not score much on the Pirates.

Burg up 31-18 at half.
Was told that Burg was down 18-13 and then went on an 18-0 to get to the score at half.
