All about $$$$$! I wonder how many Eastern Brown / Piketon / North Adams / Portsmouth fans bought tickets for both.

Its the same reasoning the SE District plays there games at the Convo. It"s a terrible atmosphere at the OU campus. Tonight at Waverly was a lot better. Sure everybody gets in at Athens but high school basketball is a lot better when the crowd is more involved, imo.

Its not about the money,,,the games should be spread more a part, to give the fans from both teams to get in and out.

it took us longer to get off the parking lot, then it did to get home.

we was going to pay to watch the second game, but I wasnt about to stand in that line outside to get back in!

It's the same at Southeastern and Logan for D2. I'm sure it's that way most places.

C'mon man. You gotta admit the only reason the SE District wanted you to stand in line again was to make more money. It's business on there part.

hookem,

I don't think bigdwogg is saying they are not trying to make money. If I read it right and I feel this way, it is the poor logistics/planning. If you are going to have split sessions, you have to have plenty of time between the games to allow people to get in and get out.

Southeastern does a little better job simply because of the amount of parking and their facility has parking on both sides of the gym. Home and Visitors go in different sides. However, it is still a royal pain trying to get out there.

One think I would like to see in these venues is parents and students get reserved seats and/or sections. Right now it is about when you show up and stand in line for what seems like ever. If the schools could allocate 250 or so tickets in a reserved fashion, there would be less people standing and possible less traffic jams. They could still have general admission sales at the schools as well.

GO CAVS!!!

Makes sense. Good post Hitchbone. I'll buy that.

By the way where do fans go in Richmond Dale for a meal after the game?

If you just want to watch a basketball, sure maybe the Convo is good. But, if you want a good atmosphere and watch a basketball game, the Convo is not good.

I have seen some good high school games with plenty of atmosphere at the Convo over the years.

The problem was caused by the first game going to overtime. The OHSAA has done split sessions for championships for 100 years, why is anyone shocked. Haven't you ever been to a championship tourney game before?

OHSAA .....has never seen games go into overtime?

Im suer they did not know it would go into overtime, but why not plan it like it was going to?

then everyone has plenty of time, to enter or exit.

hitchbone64

thanks, thats exactly what I was talkingt about.

we already know ,OHSAA is ALL ABOUT the money,so I have moved past that one

A good atmosphere is not 40 feet away from the floor. I'm sure your a fan of high school basketball and if you would ever watch a SW Ohio, Kentucky or Indiana high school tournament game you would see the atmosphere is entirely different than the Convo provides at the District/Regional level. It's not because of the fans but because of the venue.

Everyone did have plenty of time to enter and exit. If everyone would have gotten out when the announement was made to exit and if the one guy from Eastern Brown hadn't made an A** of himself the gym would have been cleared and everyone would have been let back in within a few minutes.

Cooperation people, that is the key.

I have been to high school games in Indiana. It is the play of the teams and the fan involvement that create the atmosphere. The crowd being on top of the floor isn't a prerequisite to a good atmosphere.

HBK is right about that one...I was there and saw the whole thing...They had 3 police officers ready to remove him and his wife because they refused to leave...THat took 10 or 15 minutes because they (ohsaa committee officials) tried to have them leave like everyone else, but no, they refused for 15 minutes, then finally left before they were escorted out. So, If you're mad, that's why you had to stand outside longer. Nonetheless, if you were there and watched the games, it was worth every penny you paid...

Besides, if its about greed, well, each dollar that is spent, each school gets so much of the proceeds...

Schools athletic program get $1.25 of each ticket they sell, so the split session only helps the schools. Get a clue.

JPharm - Streaks looked strong! Keep it rolling!!

We can agree to disagree about the last sentence and you are correct it is the team and the fan involvement that creates atmosphere. But, as a player I think you would want the crowd on the floor.
