It will be between Athens and Vinton County for the top spot.

Space, I agree with Athens and VC battling at the top but I'm going to also throw Wellston in the mix. If my thinking is right, they have all 5 starters back off of a 10-10 team which upset VC last year. I think it will come down to these 3.

I agree with dundas, athens and vc will be tough, but you cant count wellston out.. they split their meetings with wellston and vinton county.. all their starters are returning and that courts kid is a really good ball player.. Can't Wait till basketball Season!

As sophomores: Athens finished (18-2) and Vinton County ended up (20-0) I believe ... Those were JV records ... I don't see any reason why those two teams won't be at or near the top this season ... But don't sleep on Meigs, who made their first trip to the Convo in quite some time last year AND Wellston, who returns a solid line-up and a few real good playmakers. I love southeastern Ohio hoops - but I am definitly entrenched in the 2011 football season right now ... After week 10 - and hopefully some playoff games - I will have the trivalleyconference.com web site turned over to basketball.

I would love to have any hoops photos from last year so I can put them on the site - my e-mail is [email protected]

It is pretty sad to see all the seniors NY is going to have and they more than likely will be in last place again.

Who knows - they have a ton of talent and size - they could easily be one of the top teams in the league ... Or finish at the bottom ... They are definitly tough to judge.

Who does Meigs have back? They lost quite a bit from last year. Wellston will suprise some teams this year they always play real hard. Athens making the playoffs in football could set them back a week or two depending on how many playoff games they can win. Same with Nelsonville although they have a ton of talent they lack some coaching. I feel bad for them boys

MEIGS: has Dillon Boyer, 6-foot-4 center Jesse Smith and 6-foot-2 forward Dustin Ulbrich returning - but lost Ryan Payne, Cameron Bolin, Colton Stewart and Seth Wells.

WELLSTON: I believe only lost 1 player (Teddy Compston) ... They definitly have some talent coming back - they could very well be in the mix throughout the season.

It will also depend on how long football season is. The longer it is the more it will hurt the basketball.

NY doesn't get into basketball mode until after the first of the year. I agree with both of ya tho regarding how the talent is not equaling the success.

Vc is the team to beat until some one knocks them off. Athens returns a good group as well but with playoff football going on right not that will hurt them a little the first of the year. As for wellston, the talent is there forsure. Return all 5 starters from a year ago for a team that went 10-10 and split with vc and Athens. My son came home and told me wellston will have to play their first 10 games on the road. That could hurt them a bit in tvc play. And I agree wellston will play inspired ball this year with the passing of coach d over the summer. The thing that worries me about wellston is coaching experience. I watched Chris when he played for the rockets in the late 80's I know he knows the game just not sure how stepping into a varsity job after being away that long will work out. I hope I'm wrong.

Looking forward to the 2011-2012 season. Heard that Jordan Kidd, a junior, is back and will be rejoining the Vikings after a couple of years in Wooster. Heard he is 6-4 now. If true, he will be a great addition to the Vikings!!!!

at least 1/2 of the basketball players are playing football. The head basketball coack is also a football assistant so he will be involved with football until it end. This could turn out to be very interesting if NY has a football playoff run. Same for Athens.

Zipper,
I know most of the kids also but that does not mean I can coach them. From things ive heard from other parents and my son the transion has not went very well. Kids not showing up to open gym, coaches not showing up due to football. As a first year head coach you've got to be 110% commited not just a little like I've heard this staff has been so far. That's one of the reasons my son is not playing.

As far as I know the same staff as last year but coach Derrows son Brandt will not be on the bench this year.
