WAVERLY 09-10
WAVERLY 09-10
This is waverlys year, I think they should be in the top of the soc this year. Waverly has a exchange student that plays point guard, and are returning three great starters.

Re: WAVERLY 09-10
The league is strong and Waverly plays an incredible schedule- Chesapeak, Logan Elm, Piketon, Chillicothe, along with Burg twice, Valley twice, Oak Hill twice, and the team that I think will shock everyone in the SOC Northwest twice. I agree the tigers may be better than last year, but with this schedule it might be rough to have a better record.
They will find out how good they are in the scrimmages(Upper Arlington and Kettering Ater) but you have to remember they are still a little young and this team will improve with time. I certainly felt they got the best of Hillsboro and Westfall on Saturday. Some people are talking about a lack of depth- but I think they will be just as deep as last year- although I am sure Coach Robertson would like to have more numbers in the entire program.
They play 4 really tough games out of their first 6 (Logan Elm, Chesapeak, Wheelersburg, and Piketon)- and remember if competition really makes you better then the schedule should help Waverly. Starting off strong would be nice but finishing strong is even better!
For those of you who have not seen the gym - it has been painted and looks really good!
Good luck Waverly!

bucki4life,
Don't get ahead of yourself, Waverly would face Piketon in the classic if they both win or both lose in round 1. Waverly faces Western and Piketon faces Eastern first.
I haven't seen a much tougher opening schedule in southeast Ohio this year. Travis has really beefed up the non-league schedule.
Wheelersburg, Oak Hill, Northwest and Valley should all be good ball clubs. Many are picking Burg to make a trip to the final 4.
12/05 8:00p.m. Logan Elm @ Zane Trace Tip Off
12/11 6:00p.m. Valley (JV/Varsity)
12/12 12:30p.m. Chesapeake @ Convo Hoops Classic
12/18 6:00p.m. Wheelersburg (JV/Varsity)
12/28 7:30p.m. Western - Holiday Classic
12/30 TBA Piketon or Eastern - Holiday Classic

Tigers2010,
I agree Waverly does have a pretty tough schedule. Logan Elm whom they play game 1 could say the same (Waverly, Chillicothe, Zane Trace, Detroit Prep, Westerville South). It will be interesting to see how Waverly approaches the BIGS of Logan Elm (Hauserman and Pritchard). I haven't seen the exchange student play and was wondering how good he was at penetrating and creating looks for Kretzer from outside? The exchange student will get a taste of one of the best in the area when he goes head to head with Adam Blake. Waverly has a ton of talent and could go extremely far this season if they have matured and learned how to close games out. Hopefully they took something positive away from the McClain game a season ago.

Man Bucki,
You are already giving Piketon the win over Eastern and Waverly the win over Western in the first round of the classic? I'm not saying you may have not picked the favorites...but anything can happen (and usually does at the Classic).

Witness230 you really make that fourth starter from last year feel good.

The Zane Trace Classic schedule lists Waverly as playing on Friday, Dec.4th vs. Logan Elm at 8:00.
Re: WAVERLY 09-10
Understand Waverly and Washington CH will scrimmage Gallipolis in the new GAHS gym on Saturday, Nov. 28, beginning at 9 a.m.
The new Blue Devil gym is located about four miles southeast of Gallipolis off State Route 141 on Centenary Rd.
All the new spring sports facilities are under construction at this time, GAHS already has a fine soccer field in Centenary.
A new football field is planed in the new location. A new track has already been built at the new school.

Does the exchange student mean the Remy boy loses his spot. That is tough for a kid to handle, you spend your whole career working and then a kid comes in and takes your place.

Yes, it is Friday at 8:00p.m. Waverly's printed schedules say the 5th but that is incorrect.
The Tigers looked pretty good tonight. Should be an exciting year.

I would give Waverly a passing grade for the foundation game with Southeastern too... but I think Waverly should find another team to play next year- Southeastern hardly brought any fans to the game - last year Waverly took a lot of people over to their gym - and remember these games raise money for a charity and if they are not going to bring anyone- we should get a school that will bring a few people.

Im sure the exchange student has worked hard to get where he is as well...So that is just part of it.Whoever Coach Robertson feels gives them the best chance to win, that is who will play.Either way, Remy will see minutes.I think the Tigers will be a good team this year but in a very stacked SOC2.I see them finishing 4th behind Wheelersburg,Oak Hill and Valley.I also think Northwest could suprise some people.Going to be a fun year.
Re: WAVERLY 09-10
Sammy J (he wants to be called that) is the starter at the point. If Remy doesn't start at the other guard spot he will see signifcant playing time. If the Tigers play uptempo ball like they did Tuesday they'll need a couple guys rotating in alot. Remy is a good ball player who will not hurt the Tigers when he's in there.
Don't blame Mr. Johnston for stealing someone's starting job. I'm sure he earned it.
No one was crying last year when Victor came in and started.
Waverly has the potential of being a very good basketball "TEAM". What they don't need is people stirring stuff up, causing dissension.

Having coached Rheadon in other sports, I am sure he will accept whatever role Coach Robertson puts him in and give 125% when he hits the floor! Good Luck to the Tigers this season!
Re: WAVERLY 09-10
The Remy kid is a TEAM player, and will benefit the team with his positive attitude and work ethic.
