Fort Frye @ Belpre 12/5

Very good season opener. It been 3 years since the Belpre beat Fort Frye and that last win came at the Eagles Nest in 2006. The Eagles must continue to play the kinda defense they have showed in the preseason scrimmages. I think Fort Frye will have to keep it a half court game. I don't see them being able to get into a running match with the athletic Eagles. Tate and Sims will be A LOAD for the Cadets to handle.

Belpre will put alot of pressure on the opposing point guards this year...(from what i saw in the preseason)...Belpre is quick and can shoot very well. Any team with a so so point guard will have trouble beating the Eagles. Good luck Belpre...go TVC!

If Belpre runs on all cylinders they will be tough to beat every night. The rotation of guards this year maybe the strongest group they have had in a while. Defense will be paramount for this team, no doubt they can score. Tate and Sims should average 20 a night. The "BIGS" should control the boards and set up the running game. Belpre @ home, they win by 10.

with the starting 5 as sims(Shaq) tate (kobe) wadeker (speed and defense) parsons (shooter)and campbell (physical), you have slattery(shooter) miller (shooter) leasure and i am sure brooks sizemore will be put in there for his great size. That is 9 players deep! All are athletes and i have been impresses with every single boy this preseason. I havent ever been this excited to watch a young group of men to play basketball and the way they work together is like magic.

Hardwork I like your assesment but I can't agree with your prediction. These kids are talented but with that goes tons of pressure. They have to learn "how to win" all over again. There will be ruff spots along the way but I'm sure come Feburary "The Eagle Nation" will be very pleased with the finished product.

This is a rivaly game and the 1st game of the year. With that being said Fort Frye has some good guards but so does Belpre. Slowing down Tate won't beat Belpre. Parsons, Waderker, Slattery, are all vetern players. Miller and Nestor both can shoot the basketball very well. That's 6 pretty good guards. Throw in the size and athletism of Sims, Leasure, Campbell and Sizemore, that makes Belpre about 10 deep.

To say the Eagles will win by 25 is a bold statement. I cant see how they could improve that much in the off season with the addition of only 1 player. I see them finishing 3rd or tied for second in the TVC Ohio this year (behind VC and Athens) I hope the eagles win but 25 IMHO is just not going to happen.

This is really funny! Every year Belpre fans get on here saying how great they will be only to get drug all season long. Then when this happens they blame the coaching staff. I hope the coach is ready to be the scapegoat when things start going bad this year.

Donger don't know about every year. I believe last season was the 1st losing year for a Belpre Eagles basketball team in a very long time. Fans that are from programs that usually win don't take losing very well. That being said believe me the kids have taken their share of criticism as well.

i guess we will see if all the hype is true about belpre basketball..belpre struggles with fort frye every year, but i think that changes this year..Eagles Nest should be rockin as Belpre wins by 5..Fort Frye will try to slow the game down, and Belpre will try to speed the game up, turnovers will be big factor in this game as Fort Frye doesn't make a lot of mistakes, but in the end Tate and Sims and company are too much for The Fort. Fort Frye is very talented and has being doing work vs the likes of Shadyside,West M,Meadowbrook,Morgan,and Waterford in preseason crushing everyone.Belpre is known for the team speed and athletism.Fort Frye lost good players in Thieman,Stevens,and Arnold but return alot from the JV team that went 17-2.Fort Frye is the way better shooting team and way better coached.I dont think they will be scared at all to run with Belpre at all.Fort Frye will put the pressure D on the Eagles.The big advantage Belpre has is inside.If Fort Frye makes outside shot they will win this game.You morons that say FF will get beat by 25 are crazy.Tell me the last time FF got beat by 25.FF has dominated this series recently and I find it funny how much little respect the Cadets have been given.

Liedtke is hands down one of the best coaches in this area, in the past 20 years, his programs are built from the ground up, in Beverly, they are considered the state of Indiana Basketball. No way in this world Belpre beats Fort Frye by 25, its just not possible. Belpre may win and I wish both teams the best of luck but Liedtke takes full advantage of being a better Coach and will be that night especially if Tate and Sims steer away from the offense and start looking to call their own number every time. Be careful Belpre fans because Fort Frye does not rebuild this program they reload.

Fort frye is always tough, i don't expect Belpre to win by 25 points. If Belpre can play simple basketball makes good decisions and play as a team they will win. This group of starters have played together since they were in 4th grade they know how they play. Get the ball moving around take the open shots and have fun. I thinks Belpre wins by 1-5 points

Belpre kids are very cocky they are already calling for this team to go state.The Eagles heads are so big its about to explode in their faces.Fort Frye is going to be without Eddie Watson the teams best slasher.The team is lead by Sr Jarid Bates a 6-4 guard that can shoot from outside and get to the basket.Garrett Legrean is 6-5 and long and has really work on his outside game.Fort Frye will start 4 or 5 kids that can shoot the 3.They are 10 deep and will press and try to cause turnovers like Marietta did last season.They will rotate players and wear Tate and Sims down.If Sims has a good game they could win.If Fort Frye struggles from the perimeter it might be a long night for the Cadets.Big Dan will run 4 corners and pass the ball around and run stall before he lets a team beat him by 25.The Cadets would rather slow it down and lose by ten then let a team beat them by 25.Fort Frye is legit and will play Belpre close.I think this will be a great game and is a toss up.

What's the problem with setting goals? Winning a TVC Ohio title I'm sure is what this group is focused on.

This will be an awesome matchup. What the best of high school basketball is all about. I'm sure Belpre's guards can compete with Fort Frye guards. Tate, Parsons, Slattery, and Miller can all shoot the 3 ball very well. Waderker plays the kind of defense that Fort Frye fans are used to seeing Tyler Stevens play the last 4 years. That defensive intensity has spread to the whole team in the preseason. The big factor I feel will FF be able to handle Belpre's "bigs" down in the paint. With 6'5" Sims and Leasure along with 6'3" Josh Campbell (strongest player on the team) and not the mention the 6'7" "space heater" sophomore Brooks Sizemore I feel playing at home in the Eagles Nest give Belpe the edge in this matchup.

gotgame I hope you're right but the last few times I have been down to the Eagle's Nest it has been relatively dead compared to years past.

Belpre better come to play because you know Liedtke is gonna have those boys ready...no way is he gonna let them get beat by 25. But if Belpre keeps their heads on straight and they all play within their abilities they should win this game IMO...but they're gonna have to be 10-15 points better than the fort to even pull off a win over Liedtke & Co.
