I know Belpre plays tonight @Meigs, and im not too sure if Warren has a game tonight or not, but lets see what everyone thinks in this rivalry matchup. I think Warren may have 7 straight over the the Eagles, could very well be more..someone correct me if im wrong. I look for this to be a good game, this game usually comes down to wireand i expect it to be another nail-biter. Eagles gotta slow down Cunningham with Waderker and Warriors gotta slow down Tate with Fivecoait. If you look at the matchups in this game i would say they are all pretty even. Campbell-Ellenwood, Tate-Fivecoait, Lang-Parsons, Cunningham-Waderker and Sims-Venham. I am going to predict that the Eagles win at home, by 3. Lets see what everyone else thinks.

Belpre 58
Warren 55

Warren does not play tonight.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with your pick, and say that Warren wins by 10 (but Belpre will have a lead at some point during the 2nd half)

Fivecoait can slow anybody...he's the most dedicated defender on the team.

Will all see how good Belpre in this one Warren is the real deal I feel they have the talent to go to Columbus in march IMO but if Belpre wins or plays the Warriors well then there a real contender in the TVC Ohio

This should be a good game. Im not making any predictions because it seems like everytime someone predicts the eagles to win they get their @#$s handed to them. Cunningham IMO is the best true guard this area has seen in a while, and the warriors are strong top to bottom but Belpre has very good athletes out there who now go out there and expect to win. Should be a good fight.

I believe it's only six straight for the Warriors dating back to a Belpre win in their second matchup of the 2005-2006 season (Alkire, Thornhill, Adams v Barth, Caldwell, Smith) . I also believe that Warren can make it seven straight, but it starts on the defensive end. Defensive pressure has frustrated the Eagles in the past and will play a huge part tomorrow night. The horses will get theirs, it could come down to one or two possessions...

The difference in this game will be desire!!! Warren only has one player who can get hot and carry the team while Belpre has a couple. Belpre's defense and their desire to win IS the difference in this game. Get their early and root for your team. 60-47 Eagles.

Belpre must play a whole game like they played the fourth quarter against Meigs and not have the letdowns like it was in the 2nd quarter and the start of the 3rd quarter. If they play a complete game they should be able to come out with a win against their arch enemy.Belpre by 3 or 4 at the Eagles Nest.GO EAGLES!!!

justlookin - been to a Warrior game yet this year? or atleast read their box scores? Which one player is that? Venham? Cunningham? The others have not led the TEAM in scoring yet but are very capable- the Warriors are a very balanced TEAM if you would had looked!?!

i know this would be a lot to ask on here but at least have a clue before you post!

There is no doubt that Belpre has the athletes to win... but will they play as a TEAM? remain Disciplined? maintain their COMPUSURE?

all traits of the Warriors Basketball Programs over the past 10+ years...

It all depends on which Warren team shows up tonight. If the team that played Meigs and Fort Frye shows up, it will be nip-and-tuck all night. If the team that played against Maysville shows up, then Belpre will be have a tough time matching-up. Maysville was a very, very good team with all of the pieces and Warren pounded them. Maysville's started the game with players who were legitimately 6'6", 6'5" and 6'4" and they could not move the Warriors around. Warren is much stronger and better than any team Belpre has played thus far.

This is Warren's first away game of the regular season, so that could be a factor. Warren's bench is better and deeper than Belpre's bench, so if fouls are an issue I would give the edge to Warren.

Sometimes you read posts and you can tell that folks really don't know much about a team. Desire will not be an issue for this Warren team. This is a mature, gritty group. They will match the Eagles in intensity.

Should be a fun evening.

Go Blue.

Tonight's game is definitely what high school basketball is all about. The kids are all friends and tonight they will all lay it on the line for their school. The fact that tonight's winner probably is the front runner for the "mythical" Washington County League Championship only adds to what is already gonna be a "barnburner"
Great matchups everywhere and I'm sure there is plenty of argument as to who has the advantage and why!
There is a great mutual respect that these kids have for each other and this game but both teams know they must come to play.

As for the matchups
I think that just about every matchup is close to even so I think that tonights game turns on who can play "team ball" and who can execute down the stretch under pressure. Despite what the preseason critics have said Belpre has been very good at sharing the basketball this year. At Meigs last night the Belpre guards dished out 20 assist. At Waterford Tate's triple double had 11 assist. So despite the "naysayers" Belpre willingness to share the ball has been big in every single game they've played. Also Belpre's ability to beat you "off the bounce" pays big when a team is forced to play man to man in the 4th quarter of a tight ball game.

YES I have watched Warren play this year and if the point guard isn't having a good night nobody else will either, I don't care what you say that is the truth, not saying that the other players can't or don't, I just haven't seen it. He is the table setter for this team, the other players you mentioned are good players in their own right BUT CAN NOT take over a ball game on both ends of the floor. The CLUE is this, stop the point guard in blue and Warren's chances are slim. Now if that makes me a basketball idiot than I guess that's what I am. Warren's BIGS match up well against Belpre in size and speed, DESIRE WILL WIN THIS GAME!!! If you don't believe that , then you have never laced them up and played in a rivalry game before. I root for Warren other than 2 games a year. Come out and watch and see what takes place, who is right and who is wrong.....

GO EAGLES!!!!

I think Belpre forces Warren to play uptempo and that does not sit well with the Warriors. Belpre by 7

If you are talking about Point/Post/Defensive Stopper Fivecoat then I would agree... He is a tough match-up! Whoever guards him will have to work the entire possession... Helping on the solid screens he sets, denying him in the post, & boxing him off the Offensive boards! Whoever gets the pleasure of having him in their face on the other end will be worn-out!

Not an Eagle hater here... I know these boys & have seen their potential. The level of their success this season depends only on their choices... Can they put We before Me!?!

It will be interesting to see if Belpre can speed the Warriors up out of their comfort zone.?. Last year the Eagles were not able to even when they were playing well and on their run after the holiday break... Also, this year's version of the Warriors have shown an ability to play a little transition offense.

Hoping for an Injury Free contest for both Teams!

Can't beat the Atmospheres for these games! Warren-Belpre, Warren-Fort, Belpre-Fort, Warren-Marietta... Enjoy it fellas!

Don't know if I agree with that statement. Tate is averaging 19 ppg in the last 4 Warren games. Mainly with Fivecoat and Hebb guarding him. So I can't agree with your "shutdown" statement. With the addition of Sims teams haven't been able to double team Tate thus 22 ppg 7 apg average.

As for put "WE BEFORE ME" Come on get ur facts straight. The Belpre starting guards are all averaging better than 5 assist per game. Last nite they had 20 assist. The fact is they can pass and score. When is the last time a Warren team had over 20 assist in back to back games.

FYI...

According to Belpre high school, there will be NO tickets sold at the door for tonight's game. The game is a sellout from the presale of tickets that was held at both high schools this past week.

The only passes that are to be accepted will be...

Belpre Athletics Season Passes - student, individual or family, Belpre City Schools Employee Passes, Senior passes and conference athletic passes. (I assume that this would be both TVC and SEOAL passes only)

It is also my understanding that the doors will open @ 5:15.

Got Game -

1) Where in my post are the words 'shut-down' typed?

2) 'We before Me' would apply to much much more than just assists... if you have ever been apart of a true Team you would know this!

3) "An assist is the principal pass that contributes directly to a field goal. The pass must be a major part of the play. Only one assist may be awarded for each field goal."
2009 edition of the NCAA Basketball Statisticians' Manual.

If these stats are post-game video stats as compared to 'live' stats taken by someone sitting at the game, I say WOW! Keep up the great play Eagles!

I doubt even if Belpre won you'd give them credit but that's ok !
