Why would you have your starters in with 2-3 minutes to go and being up 40. I know West Union is a county rivalry but they haven't threatened you in the last several years and showed no chance of coming back.I just don't understand.Makes me kind of hesitate to say i graduated from Peebles.Just my thoughts!

It was a very questionable decision, I can see keeping Justice in because he was very close to 40pts. I would have liked to see Josh Chandler and Jacob Daniels at least get in the game in the final minute or so.

Were you at the game? The boys (other than Justice) were mixed in an out all night long and out of the game at the 3 minute mark other than Countryman who was in to help handle the basketball. You do not take everyone completely out of the game at the start of the 4th up by 20, the lead gradually got bigger as the period progressed.

Of course, if a young man has played well enough to be on the precipase of a major achievement I would allow him to stay in to see it through.

Are you guys serious?? This is VARSITY basketball. Get over it, John Lawhorn is NEVER going to take valuable playing time away from his players, and any playing time is valuable playing time. I am not the least bit ashamed to watch my team dominate. KEEP PLAYIN HARD BOYS!!

selfish? wow your kidding right if i recall correctly a few years ago na was in the same situation with corey copas trying to break his cousins scoring record against peebles and nothing was mentioned then but because its peebles doing it to someone else then you want to complain. I feel that it is selfish of a coach to not play players most of the game including the 4th quarter even though there up by 20. Its hypicritical to ask your players to play hard and then take them out when they are so coach lawhorn was just rewarding his players for playing so hard and leaving them in a little longer.

It doesn't really matter. With the likes of Piketon,The Burg,The Peake,Oak Hill,Portsmouth,Valley,South Point, Ironton, and Zane Trace(Full Strength) they'll get beat in the districts anyway.

What happens to Peebles if Justice gets hurt. Scoring 40 pts doesn't mean much if you bust an ankle and have to miss the rest of the season.

Justice has had 46 before hasn't he? I obviously wasn't at the game and am ignorant of the situation, but IF they were up 30-40 points with 3 minutes left and he was still in...well I wouldn't agree with that too much.
On another side....not saying West Union or anyone in particular would do it.....but there might be some 16 year olds out there that if the other team's star player has 35 points and they are losing by 35 points late in the game....they might feel like they are being shown up a bit and lose sight of sportsmanship.
If West Union's coach wanted him out he could've pulled his 5 players and subbed in 5 bench players at about the 4:00 mark......it would've looked bad to have kept Peebles' starting players in with that lead.
I do agree with keeping someone in to handle the ball.....create for those who don't get too many opportunities.

Sounds like your rooting for anybody but Peebles Kickinurz. I think Peebles is in that elite crowd you mentioned, going to make for some good games come tourny time.

Yeah....I don't think this has anything to do with other very good D3 teams....and if it does I think only 2 of those teams might be better Peebles.....but that's a LONG ways away

Lawhorn had his subs ready to go with more than 2 minutes on the clock...he just didn't call time out to bring them in and had to wait for a foul call for the refs to call the boys in.
PHS could have scored a hundred easily, had they not pulled the starters, btw.
No one has mentioned it yet, but that was a very touching tribute to Jordan Cox between games.

I don't think this is the first time this has happened and definately not the last. They have a nice team, but in my opinion the pt. guard Seaman, I think that is his name is the key to peeples team. they will go as far as he takes them. Nice player.

Yeah Chitwood I'm pretty sure as soon as Brewer took out his first string, Lawhorn took out Peebles' first string. 'Nuff Said

Nice to hear someone besides North Aadms getting accused of running the score up for a change. Allohio87 it was mentioned back then but we just prefer not to argue about it. I dont have a problem with it all. Most coaches (Like Coach Young)like to play there bench throughout the entire game so i really dont see what difference it makes.
