Ironton's awful tough. Should be a good ball game. Trojans must do a lot better at the foul line and on the boards.

Tiger fans and student body need to be at this one! Portsmouth is very athletic and playin great right now. We need to take advantage of the home court with a loud crowd!
This Ironton team is fun to watch.

The return of Tory Horne last night vs. Logan made the Trojans a better team.......our guard trio of Horne, Forrest Johnson, and Wayne Evans looked really tough vs. the Chieftains, combining for 60 points. Also Dion McKinley saw his first action as well, and he just needs some more experience.......the skills are there.

Portsmouth's free throw shooting vs. Gallia Academy was bad, but against Logan it was outstanding.......so we are capable of knocking down the charity tosses when we are focused.

Ironton has won 15 of the last 16 games vs. Portsmouth, so we are due for a win......but to do that, we will have to play very well to beat the Fighting Tigers.

Looking forward to seeing Tigertownturkey at the game........

GO TROJANS!!!

rumor has it,,after what happend at the Logan Game, Tiger Man will be keeping a close eye on Trojan Dave, down on the floor

I think we have a good chance at winning this one,but it will take our best game to do it,I seen Ironton at their tournament and they are very good team.

I also seen coach Lafon at our home game against Gallia, he was out in the hall admiring the 4 state trophies in the case,,,,,so I think he has the fever

According to Coach Collins on the radio program this morning, Seth Bratchett is out for the year after he suffered an injury against Gallia. Hate to hear that for him. Hope he comes back strong next season. This will affect our depth somewhat as he was getting quality minutes of experience in crucial moments.

On the opposite swing of things though, Horne and Mckinley are replinishing that depth for the Trojans. This game against Ironton is a measuring stick kind of game with Ironton being the most consistent team in the SEAOL thus far this season.

losing Seth Brachett was a tough one, Seth was really playing his best ball in the last few games and was getting more time on varsity, and I believe he was close to getting a lot of varsity time.

I knew when he went down that night he was hurt pretty bad, because you never see Seth complain about injurys

Ironton has won 15 of the last 16 games vs. Portsmouth
I can't resist making a comment about that:

Given what I witnessed when I was in high school and for many years thereafter, that's one of the most unlikely stats in the history of Ironton High School sports.

I wonder what the record actually was from the 1964-65 season up to that 15-of-16 game run.

SEOAL leadership is on the line for the Tigers, as a loss would throw the league into a three-way tie with Portsmouth and Chillicothe. While Ironton-Portsmouth games are always hard fought, it is good to see the Trojans and this rivalry getting back to where this game has special significance in the big picture of SE Ohio basketball. Not only will league standings be impacted, but district seedings will also be at stake.

The Trojans bring their higly talented squad to town, recently juiced up by the eligibility of Horne and McKinley. With the addition of these two, Portsmouth exploded for 88 points on the road against Logan, and can be as good as it wants to be in the SE District D-3 come February. Ironton, on the other hand, has exceeded expectations this year with solid defense and overall team play. The Tigers may not beat Portsmouth, but they will bring a hard-working, blue collar approach under Coach Lafon. This is also one of the better shooting teams that Ironton has featured in recent years, led by Kochendorfer and Waginger.

It should be a lot of fun watching these two local squads get after each other tomorrow night. I know I won't miss it. If the Portsmouth game weren't enough, the Tigers travel to Chillicothe Friday night for another high stakes SEOAL battle.

Good Luck to both teams! Both teams are very good and get after it. Not to overlook Logan tomorrow night but we in Chillicothe can't wait until the rematch Friday. Cavs are playing TUFF!
