On an interesting side note, Jacob Well quit the team at halftime of last nights game. Although i believe it was a poor decision on Jacobs part, I wish him well and hope he gains some maturity in the coming years and finds success in whatever he chooses to do. as for meigs basketball i believe this can be a positive for their program. basketball isnt a right, it is a priviledge and only those that treat it as such should put on the uniform. good luck meigs.

Who coached this game? Was Larry calling the shots or his son? I honestly cannot see the dedication being displayed by Coach Jordan SR., when coaches are not meeting they're responsibilities to stay eligible and wanting kids to sell out, when they themselves are not doing the same. Ie.....missing practices for deer season and not taking the appropriate classes required to be an eligible coach. If one of his player tried this, what would be the penalty?

Probably a two game suspension. Other than a few parents does anyone really care if Jackson basketball is successful? I mean, they have such strong tradition and what not...... It looks like just not getting beat by 40 every night would be enough. I have not watched the team play this season but witnessed the mess it was early last year. Someone please explain how Jackson has won any games at all.

Just because the tradition isn't there doesn't mean people don't care. Jackson does not put the athletes on the court that surrounding area's do year in and year out. It has to be the shortest school district in the state!! They actually are fun to watch this year. They have some kids that play balls out. They have a solid defensive post player that rebounds well and changes shots in the middle. They have a true work horse scorer and a true 3 point threat.

Larry has done a good job with this group and his coaching ability will never be questioned. But their is a LOT of people questioning his dedication. As I said before, don't ask of your players what your not willing to do yourself.

You are probably correct. Just reading these boards and listening to some people talk about the dedication, I would be very suprised if he returns next season. Sounds like he may already be finished. The deer season argument holds no weight, any southern Ohio country boy ( man) worth a grain of salt knows deer hunting comes before practice. Did he at least get a deer? Good luck to the Ironmen the rest of the season, maybe they will catch their second wind before the ponds thaw and the fish start biting and he pulls a Huck Finn on you guys.

I commend out of bounds for his/her truthfullness and courage. I have attended every Jackson game this season and it is apparent that commitment should be brought into question, no matter who the coach is.

It appears that the Jackson ball players, parents and community deserve more than what they are getting. Frustration seems to be growing; however, until administration is prepared to address the situation, Jackson athletics can and maybe should be viewed as not "caring" about basketball.

I would say the administration is aware and are just trying to get through the season otherwise they would not have made him set out the two games for not having whatever he needed to coach. That could easily have been brushed under the rug, and as was stated on another thread, there are probably plenty others out there that don't have that certification and are being allowed to continue to coach.

I doubt that could be swept under the rug. It is an OHSAA mandat and must be met by every coach of every sport of every school in the state. Even if you are not a coach but are someone who is on the support staff and wishes to be on the sidelines you are required to have it. It is not just a Jackson thing and not just a Basketball thing. In his defense though, it is stupid. He has been coaching for at least 30 years and has never needed a paper to certify that he can be around children. Why does he need one now. Just another money grab by the OHSAA IMO.

Also, I am not in Jackson and do not see the day to day runnings of this program but from the outside looking in, the difference in this program from a year and a half ago is night and day. Jackson used to be terrible and now they are just no good. I mean that as a compliment, I really do. The kids used to play lazy, undisciplined, uninspired basketball. Now, they play defense adequately and run a fundamentally sound offense.
