When do cheerblocks go to far?

Just looking for some opinions on cheerblock moral....I recently heard about a cheerblock that was punished for being too "rude"....to opposing players on the court..of course most parents disagreed on both sides of the court and from the story it sounded like the admin was just trying to use their authority. Thoughts???

I think cheerblocks are ridiculous anyway. As a former player and coach they only go back and forth with each other having no baring on a game. I used to tell our kids if they want to be involved in the game then "suit up or shut up." That's just my opinion and I'm sure former or current cheerblockers or their parent will completely diagree and that's fine.

The "roller coaster" at Burg is the best - very entertaining. But, as live4sport said, it had no affect on the outcome of our game there. The Tigers were still the better team and did their talking on the court.

Roller coaster is great, we've been trying it out at Warren this season, but 'Burg is by far the best I've seen.
I don't hold Gallia's student section in high regard, gahs4ever. During volleyball season they taunted our players, actually pulled a chair out from under a player while she stood up during a timeout, and then followed the team as they switched sides, intentionally blocking the views of the opposing parents. They were negative and classless. They really didn't have much to cheer about when our boys basketball team came to Gallia last month, so I suppose things may have changed.
As most of the Warren people who post on SEOPS know, I'm a WHS senior, extremely involved with school spirit activities, and I'm here to say that those "four beat cheers" don't have any affect on the outcome of the game. Now, when student sections start chanting sexual or racial slurs, and calling out individuals, those do. We've made a concerted effort at WHS to try to avoid any individual attacks, and I have to say I'm really proud of everybody sitting with me in the student section for following our lead. Not to say that it's been perfect, but it's definitely possible to cheer your team without trying to put down the other team.

Back in the day, the Burg had a boys cheer block called "The Hellcats" led by Dave "the bliz" Blevins. Cheers like....'
see the basket, see the ball, come on a-hole, hit the wall
cigarette ashes, cigarette butts, we got the trojans by the nuts, pull team, pull
2 4 6 9, whose that loser at the line
hey buddy, you travel, you walk to fassssssssssssst
There were many more that I can't remember, but I know they got out of hand and had to be disbanded.

At the boys state tournaments over the years the cheerblocks for schools such as Cincinnati Moeller, Cincinnati Elder, and Cincinnati St. Xavier have always been a lot of fun to watch.

Its all fun and games. Good student sections add to the atmosphere either by bringing attitude or laughter. A good student section is priceless in all sports.
The Roller Coaster thing is the dumbest, weirdest, stupidest, goofiest, dorkiest thing I have ever seen. The roller coaster the macarena look like the coolest thing ever. The roller coaster makes the electric slide look like Will Smith in Men in Black. The Roller coaster makes Urkel look like Russel Crowe in Gladiator. I think you get the point.

Back in the old days, over in tidewater area, they would sneak this one in every once in a while.
We don't drink,
We don't smoke,
Norfolk, norfolk, rah rah rah.
And you know how they pronounce the town out there.

Here's a couple that stuck out to me over the years. "We got the rope we got the tree all we need is a referee" Or "Florida Oranges Texas Cactus we play Tigers just for practice"

Bucknut23 is right.......I go to the state tournament every year, and the best student sections I have seen are the ones for Elder, Moeller, St.X, and LaSalle.......and I think Elder is the best of them all........I believe one year the OHSAA got nervous when the Elder students were jumping up and down on the bleachers........I think OHSAA officials came over and told them to calm it down a bit.
