Possible Tourney Matchups...that scrimmaged each other?

Post by Ironman92 »

What possible matchups could very well happen between teams that scrimmaged during the preseason?

Scrimmages are done for many reasons but IMO many make way too much out of the results as all type of lineups are being played and not everyone is always available during scrimmage time.

One that jumps out to me is a possible Zane Trace/Chesapeake district final.....I watched Chesapeake completely dominate the 20 minute running clock to something like a 45-17 score. I'd love to see the rematch. Peake at that 8 team scrimmage looked to be in tip top shape and ready for the tournament.....Zane Trace looked like a team 2 weeks before the season.

Any others of interest?

The best part is it was like 1 week after ZT's playoff football game at Heath. I would venture to say that it would be very interesting to see a rematch.

South Point was a common opponent between them, and ZT went to SP and played well. 73-43.

Yeah....I knew that......hard to tell in stuff like that SP and Peake are huge rivals.....but an impressive margin nonetheless

Ironman, From what I heard ZT didnt have their best player there. I know most of the time 1 player doesnt make a huge difference but judging by thier record now he must have a huge impact. But yes, Peake dominated them in a preseason game. I dont have much faith in that. They dominated Portsmouth in the Peake shootout in June but once again i think Portsmouth was without either two or maybe even three key players. I guess we'll have to wait and see. The one guard ZT did have was a good kid. About 6'3????? I dont know any of their names. But I like those scrimmages.

South Webster scrimmaged Beaver Eastern and then played them again in the previews.

They also played Reedsville Eastern in a 3 team scrimmage at Alexander.

And, they played New Boston in the Foundation Game.

Nothing at all menatalist. Most teams dont even have all their guys together. The ones that do are the teams that didnt make it in the football playoffs. Its pretty much a way to get those that dont play football a head start of getting in shape. Peake happened to be one of those teams that didnt make it to the playoffs and had all their guys and looked impressive in that way. Same for most of the OVC teams. Fairland and South Point.
