Piketon versus West Union 2-27-10 (sectional championship)

Post by Coach Kelley »

Piketon will take on West Union on Saturday at 5pm for the sectional title. West Union upset Lynchburg Clay tonight at Waverly. West Union starts a lineup with no one over 6 feet tall, but they shoot the ball well if they get open looks. The winner will take on the winner of the Chesapeake/South Point game Saturday night at Jackson. This will be the 3rd meeting between those two teams, 2nd time in 1 week...

Redstreaks are focused and coming off solid performances this past week...Hopefully another solid performance Saturday night and move on! That's all it is now....win and move on!!! Go Streaks!!!!!

Wow! I was totally anticipating a Lynchburg-Piketon matchup in this bracket. Did the Mustangs take the Dragons lightly? Possibly looking ahead to the Streaks?
Good luck to both West Union and Piketon. I believe that WUHS will need to shoot the ball really well to have a chance in this one. On the other end, the Streaks will need to pound the glass and take advantage of their size. Brush will need to play big throughout this tournament run!

1st Call this year by The Chef to the Redstreak Nation members for attendance of this game Saturday evening. The Streaks need to get the train rolling again this year and the boys need your support more than ever. The Chef don't know much about West Union as only been there once, but sure they will be ready for the Streaks. Redstreak Nation wear red and get yourself ready. Want a big rowdy crowd in attendance to hopefully begin the march. So, here's the official 1st Call to the Redstreak Nation for Saturday evening.

Any of you Piketon fans ever see the DVD tournament montage Nextv Sports put out last year? It's pretty cool.

The Chef saw it at the season kick-off party before the season started. It was shown to the Redstreak Nation and there were wet eyes and joy all over the place. Great memories and probably one of greatest times to be a Redstreak in school history. It was a time of pure emotion and Village unity.

2nd Call going out to the Redstreak Nation for Saturday game against West Union...Dig out the Convo shirts, State shirts, red and gray pompoms, crazy hats, throat lozenges, and get a new family size bottle of Maalox for this year's run to the roses. Get your carpooling plans set and be sure to pick up everyone that wants to go to get them there to Waverly.

Here's the official 2nd Call to the Redstreak Nation for Saturday evening game.

Here Comes the Streaks.

Onward Piketon...P-I-K-E-T-O-N!

Although there may not be as much talk about this Piketon team, persay, as other D3 favorites this season or last year's team....this Piketon team has the 2nd highest point differential in School history! They are averaging +15ppg differential with the same amount of offense from last season's team, and better defense at around 52ppg....better than the State Semi-final team last season. With that said, this team has played through adversity and assumed new roles completely different than last season's squad.

They lost 6 games, D2(Mifflin, @ Waverly, @ Zanesville, Vinton County-neutral court) and D3 (@ Huntington, @ Zane Trace-League champs)..... Not bad teams!

Piketon has won 8 of last 9 games in Waverly downtown arena, and with a win, this will be the 3rd straight Sectional Title for the streaks...We know that the Dragons will be laying it all on the line...so there's no overlooking this game! Go Streaks!!! Get Out and support the Streaks!!!!!!

Coach Kelly - thanks for the info and The Chef is rip roarin' ready to go! The 3rd and final call will be issued Saturday morning for the Redstreak Nation's notification of upcoming game. Not to be confused with last or final call at Beril's B&G. Kind of one of those time honored traditions.

Here Comes the Streaks!!!

3rd and Final call to Redstreak Nation for attendance to this evenings game against West Union. Game starts at 5PM and The Chef expects a great representation of the Redstreak Nation present clad in red. Let the Sea of Red descend upon Waverly in droves.
Don't let this fresh blanketing of snow be a deterent in anyway. We all ought to be used to the white stuff by now. The Chef says its time to eat and come and get it.
