Portsmouth Youth B-Ball League

I've heard that there is going to be a youth B-ball league in the old gym at PHS this summer. Does anybody have any info on this? ages ?, times? etc.....

SSU Grad: The league that you are referring to is the KBA.......which is a youth basketball league organized by Anthony Kearns........there are about 6-8 teams scheduled to play, and league play begins June 9th.......I have a schedule but not with me at this posting........last year the KBA played games in Bannon Park, but it very hot for the kids to play outdoors........there was an individual who has a son playing in the KBA that told me that the old PHS gym will be used for KBA games this year. I officiated quite a few games in the KBA last year and will do so this year when I am not working.

I believe any kid who is not past the 8th grade is eligible to play in the KBA, but I think teams have their rosters already filled, because they did have a sign up period and then a draft.

Found out yesterday that the KBA may not be playing at the old PHS gym.......if not, the league will play in Bannon Park........I do know there were several games played at the 14th Street Community Center last year, but I don't know if that is a possible site this year.

But the opening of the league is headlined like this:

He's trying to have all the bells and whistles of the "The Association" with rookie of the year, MVP, sixth man of the year, all star game, to name a few....this is the second year of the league and it's a good thing for the kids.

From what I found out yesterday, the KBA will be playing in the old PHS gym........unless there's some snag at the last minute.

As jgordon0315 said, the league is a great thing for the kids, and playing indoors should be a welcome relief from the hot sun.
