Good info, do any of the underclassmen have any size? Other than Mr. Jenkins, it looks like the Blue Devils will be a little undersized.

After watching several open gym workouts and a scrimmage at Jackson, it looks like 6-3 junior Bryce Amos will be one of Gallia Academy's "go to" guys this year.
He can shoot and is good on the boards. PS--He needs to add a few pounds of muscle to his frame.

Does there have to be a "star" to have a "good" basketball team, that doesn't have a "tough" year?

well lets go with a go to guy, a threat, commands double teams, will light up the scoreboard. i stand behind athletes playing basketball. i have seen my fair share of games nothing against the kids they play hard for the cause but W`s are hard to come by.

i still cheer for them

Does Coach Moore prefer more of an uptempo game?.......it will be interesting to see the pace of play at GAHS in 2010-2011.

Run and shoot. No more 44-42 GAHS-Portsmouth games.

Although he may prefer running over standing and waiting to turn the ball over without a shot, not much will change in Blue Devil land next year other than adjusting to the talent on our team and competition. Coach Moore will run when he feels it the best option and will slow it down when he needs to. He isn't going to try to run an athletic team out of the gym unless we have better athletes and probaly won't try to walk it up against a zone team or a team with alot of size that will pound us around the rim. Defense will be the premium as well as other fundamental skills. At times it may seem like we are running more but I think it will be more of a case of seizing the opportunity to run and playing smart within a systematic and controlled environment. The biggest changes may be the attitude of young players in Gallipolis and program numbers. Numbers won't grow immediately but in time they will certainly grow. I also can see the summer program getting back more to playing the game and raising basketball IQ rather than structure.

make no mistake about it the Amos kid has basketball talent. He is a good outside shooter and will get better inside with experience, I am sure he will get stronger. He is a really good at blocking shots as well. This kid has excellent feet work and works hard. He will be fun to watch the next few years

And just exactly what does the summer league have to do with anything?

Summer leagues in my opinion are meant for team bonding, unity, and improvement not to win games. I think any Coach I have ever spoke to never said "we really need this summer league game"

I observed several summer league games, what i saw was a good bit of athletic ability but not many basketball players. If you know anything about basketball you have to have some guys who can hoop! Non league games Blue Devils could go .500 League games? That is a tough league!! maybe .333
New Coach new system a lot of questions?? Can Coach Moore coach at the Varsity level? We will find out it isn't as easy as many think.
Good Luck Devils

With that statement Blue_nd_Gray I assume you know what its like to be a head coach and what the transition from JV to Varsity coaching is like? Make no bones about, Coach Moore can flat out coach. And I agree with 4ever. Summer league means nothing. I spoke to Coach Moore and he said he played the kids that went. In no way was the whole team together at every game, nor was the offense and defense implemented. Do I think GAHS will be dominate, good, or not so good, only time answers that question. I do know, and am thankful, that we will see a modern basketball team that has fun playing the game on the floor with Coach M at the helm. Bring on the roundball.
