Bringing freshman and sophmores up to varsity and they only play a couple quarters does them nor the team any good. If a kid is good enough to play quality varsity minutes that's one thing, but they need the "game time" experience, whether freshman squad, JV or varsity. I'd rather a freshman play every minute of a freshman or JV game as opposed to dressing for varsity and play a quarter of it.

I heard that Heibel played with the varsity this summer. I have no idea how good he is but I hope he sees as much "game time" experience as is possible. You obtain experience by the minutes.

It is very rare when a freshman is ready for any varsity time. It does happen, but it takes a very special kid to be ready for that. I agree, Freshmen should be playing as many minutes as they can on either the Freshman or JV teams and maybe mid to late year bring them in for some varsity time so they will be ready to be on the tournament team as needed.

Valley's freshman class is a pretty good group, but those kids aren't ready for Varsity action. Valley returns enough talented and athletic upper classmen to even need the freshmen. They'll get plenty of time in their bright future, but if Valley wants to compete for the SOC this season the freshmen class won't be on the floor.
