You could tell they haven't had much practice together. Don't think they played the football players much but they have some good athletes.

Wheelersburg will eventually be OK. It looked like they just need some time in the Gym. I was more impressed with the Eastern squad. A couple solid sophomores and a couple decent athletes on the wings. They will be a solid team as well.

I wouldn't buy much stock in any of the scores...very few teams actually ran plays and up tempo.

Burg has had less than 4 practices with the full team. I think they will be just fine. And who shows off anything at previews? Keep them guessing.

Oak Hill faced East, and entered the bonus in the 1st quarter. An East player began playing rough and Coach Persin ended up calling timeout to show is disgust to the referee on the situation.
I wasn't too worried about Burg, as they haven't had much time in the gym yet. They don't have long though and will need to get on the level others (South Webster and Oak Hill) are playing at quick so they do not lose any SOC games early and try to play catch up.

Oak Hill looked solid, their big man was much better than i thought.
Wheelersburg looked to have the best athletes and the best player in the league. They're the odds on favorite clearly.
South Webster looked good and plays very hard.
Minford and Waverly could surprise people, they're athletic enough to make noise in the league. It was weird seeing Waverly without any big kids, though.
West didn't look too good, neither did Northwest. Valley plays hard, just young.

I don't know who but someone needs to take a serious look at Portsmouth East athletic programs.

There hasn't been a "Portsmouth East" athletic program for seventeen years. If you are referring to Sciotoville East, why do they need "looking into"?

Sorry not up on my scioto county high school history, so many schools to little time. I am referring to the team that I watched in football season and the team I watched play in the basketball preview Friday night. If I were a tax payer in the district I would have serious questions on why my money was being spent on athletic programs that I continually watch behave with zero sportsmanship. But I don't blame the kids I have had the pleasure of sitting with the fans, explained it all.

No need to apologize for your ignorance.

East is located in the Portsmouth school district, so technically you could call it Portsmouth East. But if you are more worried about what the school is called and not how things are being run, then you have more issues than the coaches.
It's been known all football season long what kind of team East was, and/or could be, but unfortunately lack of discipline was their achilles and never could play a solid game from start to finish without an unsportsmanlike penalty. Who is to blame? The coaches.
It was just said this past week that the head basketball coach and principal got into a verbal argument and the coach walked out. Now I'm sure the same coach is back, possibly tempers were high and apologies were given, but when you start the year off at previews and let your kids act that way, what does that say?
East needs discipline FAST. Starts at the top and is taught and enforced by the coaches.
