Greenfield, like always, will play tough man to man defense and run through their offense to get the exact shot that they want and nothing will come easy for the Streaks. But, they aren't as talented as Piketon, nor are they as talented as they have been the past few years. Piketon also will have the advantage on the bench.

I'm looking foward to see Zach Uhl to perform for McClain, as well as freshman Jeremiah Savage. I am also intrested in watching Evan Legg for Piketon, and the three sophmore's Piketon has as well. I'm going with Piketon winning by at least 20

Brent Eaton is now in his second season as the coach of McClain.......last year, I believe the Tigers won about 13-14 games........not familiar with their personnel, but I can almost bet that MHS will play tough, scrappy defense which was a hallmark under Van Matre.

But Piketon has more firepower and should win this game by double digits.

Piketon 65 Greenfield 28......Piketon's defense was the best I've seen in a while...look like 5 piranhas out there tonight.

Sounds like Piketon is the real deal. Heard on the radio that Piketon did not put in the subs till 1:30 to go in the game? any truth to that? They also said the Greenfield coach confronted Lisath after the game about it. Sounds like some bad blood between these two teams. Good Luck this season to Piketon.

The Redstreaks played very well tonight. Had they converted freethrows early, it wouldve been a better showing. The pressure defense will be a staple this year for 4 quarters. As for the subs at the 1:30 mark, you are incorrect. Piketon had to set two starters (Brush, Helton) out almost the entire first half due to fouls, and they played and subbed 8-9 guys the entire game. The Greenfield starters were still playing late; piketon began emptying the bench when Greenfield did. The streaks are very deep, and will play 9-10 players a game. Also, those guys at the very end played in JV game at Portsmouth earlier today. As for bad blood, there is none. Piketon is trying to get better and prepare for our first league game Tuesday night against Huntington. As for a confrontation, there wasn't one.

Well said Coach Kelley...I thought the game was 12 to 15 point game until the Streaks went on a 20-3 run late in the 3rd. I thought everyone on the bench played timely. I think the problem was Piketon had 5 subs waiting at the scorers table midway in the 4th and they went on a 10-0 run with a couple of starters still in the game. But I was also told Lisath told his subs not to shoot at the end. I see this being a problem in blow out games, because they're very deep this year.

I was very impressed by the hustle of the streaks last night. At time they played out of control but as the year goes on they will be able to play this very fast paced offense Lisath wants from them. I agree with Jimmy, the streaks are very deep and by putting in subs we will still run up the score. I like having this as an issue lol. I'm very excited to watch the streaks this year, and Coach has this team headed in the right direction imo.

... the Red Streaks went "at least" 8 deep in the first half with the Brush/Helton both sitting almost the entire first half ... not sure what the issue would have been about having players on the court - IF you're deep YOU'RE DEEP - Piketon IS deep ... probably even more important is that PHS is NOT a 2 man team - Legg/Brush ... I was impressed with the "maturity" of the sophomore group Coach Lisath put on the floor (2 of the starters were 10th graders Craigen Moore/Zack Farmer) add Ike Brabson to the mix of "super sophs" all seem very comfortable under the pressure of varsity play (GM can bring the pressure with their 5 senior starters) ... after watching the first half of this one - I told my better half that GM and PHS were mirror images of each other defensively - both bringing constant pressure 100% of the time - the big differences being the size/length/depth of Piketon and overall athletic ability of the PHS troops that Coach Lisath can put of the floor at ALL times ...

What crap would that be, hbk123? VanMatre never scored a basket for McClain. Just got his players to overachieve for the better part of 25 years in a town where overachievement is the only path to success. Sorry we tried harder than your team, hbk123....500+ times.

McClain will be in for a long season unless someone steps up to handle the point guard duties. The only knock on Eaton vs. VanMatre is that Rick always was developing a point guard; consistently grooming the next "floor general" if you will. Brent has not done that as of yet. Last season's PG play was shaky, and this season's projected starter, Cameron Cooper, decided not to come out for the team after football ended. Cooper had seen varsity time the past few seasons, and had been groomed to be "the guy' this year. I did not get to see the game vs. Piketon but I can only assume that ball handling & decision-making from the point were the culprit as a make-shift rotation at that spot is all they have right now.
