What happened with the possession arrow/double foul call last night? Heard Coach Shoemaker on the radio say the arrow wasn't changed after the double foul?

There was a double foul called with around 3 minutes to go in the game & they go to the arrow for who gets the ball. Jackson awarded the ball at that time & then they forgot to switch the arrow. With 5 seconds to go in the game [tie game] the had a jump ball & the arrow still was giving the ball to Jackson....After a long discussion they determined Minford ball [Which was the correct call] & Slone hits a falling away three for the game winner....

In what situation is the ruling point of interuption. Is that on a technical foul, double foul, or is that not in the high school game

I thought game should continue from the point of interruption, with the team that had the ball in that situation? A double foul.

I could be incorrect on this but I am pretty certain that on a double foul you go to the arrow & on a double technical it is point of interruption.
I will look it up this evening.

Double foul is point of interruption. So, it sounds like there may have been a mistake here.

Well the Double foul happened with 3 minutes left on left clock. So that is when the ball was turned over to Jackson. This is where maybe there is a mistake, the ball should have stayed with Minford. They play on but forget to change the arrow (but I suppose that would be incorrect if they changed it). I'm really getting confused on this now & I was there, LOL.

Let's get this right!! It is according to when the double foul was called. Who had the ball, was it a loose ball, was it after a shot was taken ,when there was no team possession?? If a team was in possession of the ball-then it is point of interruption. The team who was in possession will retain the ball. No possession arrow should have been used!!! If it was after a shot, or loose ball-no team possession, then you go to the arrow!!!

Minford was in possession when the double foul was called, but they went to the possesion arrow and gave Jackson the ball.

The double foul was called immediately after a shot, there had been no opportunity for a rebound. This is why they went to the arrow. The ball was loose, therefore posession could not be determined. Minford/nor Jackson was in posession, as I am not sure the ball had even come down from the rim.

The scorers both had the change of posession marked, the table did not change the arrow on the little board. When it was brought to the officials attention, it was recognized, posession went to the correct team, neither coach appeared to be upset with the result.

I was near the table and was able to hear the officials conversation with the table as well as the coaches. This is where I received the information I typed.

I believe the officials got it correct....On the double foul, a shot at the basket had already been released which means neither team has control...You go to the arrow...Then on the late jump ball call, when Jackson thought the arrow was to them they called for a time out...Once the correction was made & Minford was awarded the ball the officials did the correct thing & made the time out an officials time out & awarded Jackson back there final time out.
If Jackson would have known ahead of time that it was Minford ball they would have not called their final time out & the officials understood that so they awarded Jackson back the final time out....To me, no one got homered & I believe the officials did a really good job in the situation.

CB 1 you must have got the "Simplified And Illustrated" Rule Book out again, I concur with you which is kind of scary. Haven't heard from ya for a while.

A double foul does go to the point of interruption to the team that was in control when it occurred. If possession can't be determined then you go to the arrow.
