I was there and I just can not get the scrimmage out of my mind.Fort Frye dominated Marietta winning 5 qts with 1 tie.I know it was a scrimmage but it is all we have to go on.Fort Frye shoots the ball so much better then Marietta.

I think you need to go see Mtta. play, they are a very good defensive team, and can shoot the three with anyone.

I think at this point they deserve to be ahead of Fort Frye. The true test will be when the Tigers play the Warriors.

When do they play. This game will be a real battle...

oops, Fort Frye, & Waterford tangle that same night, this is one I can't miss.
I'll have to catch the Tigers later.

Sutton Gym will be fully packed for the Warriors-Tigers.

Marietta is big and plays great D.Shooting is the teams weakness. They are very streaky and don't knock down 3s every game.Grosel and Riley are good players but they are not A plus perimeter shooters. Most of Mariettas points come off fastbreaks from a lot of cherry picking. They are a good team and would be a great game vs FF.I have watched the 2 play once and Fort Frye was the better team that night.Until FF loses to someone not ranked number 1 they willl stay at 2.Unless Marietta can beat Warren.

Marietta does not necessarily cherry pick EasternDspy. When you have a 6 10 player inside not too many guards have to go for rebounds allowing them to outlet quickly. Riley is without a doubt the 2nd best 3 point shooter on Marietta so I don't know what you're talking about there. He is 2nd only to Kreichbaum who I would take in a 3 point contest against anyone in the world right or left handed (know this from experience of being beaten by him). Wynn is one of the fastest guards in SEO if not the fastest. If Marietta can beat their hated rival Warren then I think they are the best team in this poll until they play at Warren which will again be a great game.

Kreichbaum is a very streaky shooter in games but just shooting around he rarely misses. If he can channel that for the rest of the season I see the Tigers making a good run.

This years Marietta team is probably one of the most physically gifted teams this area's seen in a few years. Their size advantage is 2nd to none and they can run with, or outrun just about anybody. Warren seems to just be a team that always play steady consistantly good basketball, and that may be what gets them the win over the Tigers...who knows what will happen in that game, Marietta may have 1 or 2 quality wins at the most..im a fan but im not sold just yet..their schedule hasn't been what you call to hard.
....about the Fort Frye over Marietta deal, Fort Frye is always one of the best teams around, we can argue the difference in the size of schools all you want, but to be a team that every year is a contender in your league is something alot of teams cant say they are no matter the size. Also it seems that no matter the talent on the team, they seem to be able to come together and win every year and this year doesn't seem to be any different..plus they were a good team last year unlike Marietta which probably has to do alot with why their front of Marietta.

I don't think E.D. can truly see Fort Frye for the team they are. He saw a scrimmage game, I'm pretty sure he hasn't been to a Marietta game since then, and he is trying to rate teams. I agree Marietta has FF beaten in the size and Height catagory, and their physical play would probably sideline a few of the kids FF brings. ( they might not take the occasional intentional foul that FF hands out) Shooting? Well, that's a toss up. FF likes to shoot a three, but Tim Grosell likes to get inside a point guards jersey. Shon Smith hasn't got the patience that it takes to play against the hidden reach, or to listen to the trash talk. Garrett can play against the kids in the PVC, but Three big men might be too much for him. I guess what makes me think this is I wouldn't want to be the one getting a late pass in between Big John and Connor Hess.
Donald Hilverding and Wes Riley are the height miss match, Eddy would match up better, but I havn't really seen him play defense on a shooting guard. So, in theory, it may be a night of trading threes, and run and gun. The gym size very well could be the deciding factor....

Fort Frye also has Eddie Watson who has scored atleast 10 off the bench the last 3 games.

PVC, TVC vs. SEOAL no contest. Don't give me that big school/little school stuff either. Who has Fort Frye beaten, give me a quality WIN they have. I have seen both Fort Frye and Marietta play. FF/Warren, Marietta/Chilli, Marietta is the better team now. All the teams Marietta has beaten would be beating the PVC teams hands down.

Well said EX Coach, I would say that boh Warren and Marietta have a strong bench. I would almost say Warren's comeback Kids, Henthorn, Windland,& Ward may not score in double digits every game, (they have to be allowed to shoot the ball a little more) but they individually outdo any Eddie Watson. Marietta's Junior Varsity team is that it is loaded with Juniors, Eli Lenington, off the bench offensively is gonna out do Hilverding. Dspy, you need to get out more, Hastie was your pick for 3rd team, there are bench players in the SEOAL that can outplay with an all around game (all you see is offense) alot of the PVC starters. Here is a small math problem for you. Your proud of Eddie Watson and his 10 points a game. Watch his D. See how many points he lets the person he guards score. Take the number of points he scores, less the number he lets score. That's the number you really need to look at. That scenerio doesn't work for you try this one. How about unselfish play. Look at your assists, turnovers, and turnovers that are converted to a score. How about secound shot rebounds, those are huge.

You are alot like the Marietta Times, your eyes get clouded by all the offense because the scoreboard shows points, and yes the most points wins, but for one week I would like you to focus on what your defense does, show the off set. I think you will see your team a little different light. You might appreciate what some of the kids bring that arn't on your first, second, or third string ALL Eastern Dspy Teams.
