I have heard that Devon Sharp was injured in a recent game. Athens will miss him sorely. Here is to a speedy recovery!!!!!!!!!!

Could be a good match up. I heard Sharp has an ankle injury which would be bad for Athens. With that in mind NY has a gaurd advantage if they keep their heads and play ball.

Sharp injured his ankle in the Alexander game and not sure how long he will be out: But don't think Athens doesn't still have descent guard play - because they do. Ohran Mentese, Josh Skinner & Dean Maffin are all capable of picking up the slack until Sharp returns - they lose quickness - but pick up another out-side shooter opposite Maffin in Skinner (7 three's versus Alex.)
Defensively - the Bulldogs still have Ian Dixon to cause havoc on opposing teams' guards and they have 6-foot Nick Stanley, who came into the game Friday versus Alexander and did one heck of a job guarding Mike Chapman.

I might have waited to postpone this one ... its 1:30 p.m. and the roads here on the Plains and Route 33 are perfectly clear and dry.

I believe Eastern is playing at Federal Hocking tonight ... Now, if folks from REEDSVILLE & STEWART OHIO came play a game - then anyone could have. Especially Nelsonville-York & Athens, which are only seperated by a straight 4-lane highway.

One of the schools could have a policy that if school is cancelled that day, they have no after school activities including sports.

Athens beat Nelsonville-York 50-34 tonight at McAfee behind 23 points from senior Dean Maffin - his second 20+ point game of the season. The combination of Maffin, Josh Skinner and Orhan Mentese combined for 40 points and 19 rebounds (13 of those Skinner's). Athens moves into sole possession of second place in the TVC-Ohio with the win. N-Y drops to 4-8 (1-3). Casey Cox finished with 11 points for the Buckeyes.

Athens guard play seems to be Okay. Any team would miss the quickness of a player like Devon and Athens certainly would benefit from getting him back, but the one spot they seem to have plenty of numbers is the guard position. They are learning quickly how to play without him, because that's what teams have to do when confronted with injuries. They were forced to do this when they lost an outstanding rebounder in Mitch Rider before the season even started. Coach Skinner has done a great job keeping the kids focused and doing their jobs. Go Bulldogs!!
