If SW beats the burg, and I think they will, and Waverly can pull it together and beat Oak Hill in their make up game tonight, there will be a four way tie for first in the SOC. All teams would be 5 - 2, would make for a great second half.

Wheelersburg 59
South Webster 57

Burg was up 17 in the first half and 13 at one time in the early stages of the 4th and Webster stormed back and actually had a 1 point lead at one time late in the 4th, but Stegman hit 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch to give the Pirates the win.

I'm sure we'll hear some negatives about the officiating since someone from SW was tossed by the officials. You could hear all the complaining on the radio from the people right behind Roger Gray.

I know the guy who was thrown out. Known him for 30 years. If he was upset, then something was DEFINITELY up with the officiating.
Regardless. You HAVE to overcome any and all officiating issues as a team.
Sounds like the Jeeps fought back. Tough loss, but they still have a couple months to work out the kinks before tournament time. I have a feeling they are just not gelling yet. Still a lot of work to do Jeeps. Keep working!

you gotta be kidding me if you dont think there wasnt some Bias towards Burg. Ive got nothing else to say about it. I guess it isnt a black and white issue, Just A red and orange issue. BG77 no wander you can hear them on the radio, that great gym design puts the press right in the stands!

Yeah, that was just ONE of the great screw ups in building that gym.

That's what happens when you let someone who doesn't have a clue what they doing design your gym.

crybaby fans. i guess the officials cost them to be down by 17. Those whom like to complain and get tossed, need to beware. In the next two years, I see the league adopting 100 dollar fines for those who like to watch officials instead of the game, like the league did where piketon plays.

BG77: if the radio was on the home side you would have heard the same thing! It is just the way it is.

Great game. I can't believe how hard we fought back to get ahead in the 4th quarter. You can never, ever give up on our boys.

Andy Stegman was a monster tonight. 36 of the 59 points. We tried everything on him-----but couldn't slow him down. Hats off to him.

The Burg did a good job on defense as well until that 4th quarter. Faceguarded Scott and wouldn't let him start the offense. He will be a tired young man tonight. The injury to Ashton Miller also hurt us as we could have used his presence late in that game. Usually he is our 3rd ballhandler when we are trying to hold the lead late. We had our chances----up 1 with the ball under a minute to go.

Scott had 22 and Loop 15 for the Jeeps. Ashton Miller did a great job until he was forced out in the 4th quarter. I think he dislocated (separated) his shoulder----not sure----and it was just a basketball play-----Burg did nothing dirty or anything---just happened.

Another great game. Our Jeeps are going to be ready for anything come tournament time. I will trade these losses for a long tournament run!

I agree, our gym could have been so much better/bigger.

I don't agree at all about the bad calls. I didn't see it at all but did see the SW fans getting pretty upset over almost everything. I thought it was a well called game. That being said, the guy that was thrown out didn't deserve that at all. The refs need to call the game and let the fans do their thing. The SW fans were not rude or causing any problems, only complaning about calls, which everyone does.

Stegman was a monster, no doubt. Could have had 40+ but missed a couple early.

Give SW credit, they never seemed to be out of the game at any point and just about pulled it out.

Go Burg!!!

The ejection of the fan was weird. The crowd was loud at the time---he was in the middle of the crowd and the referee came across the court and ejected him. Have no clue how it happened. I think maybe he was trying to calm things down---because it didn't appear to be a threatening situation or one where the ref could hear what was being said.

People from both sides were complaining about the refs. I haven't been to a game this year where people don't complain about the refs.

Great game. Great comeback by the Jeeps. Glad the Pirates could hold them off. I hope the Miller kid for Jeeps is OK. Didn't see how it happened. I didn't see any contact, just saw him grab his shoulder. Hopefully he will be OK. Great game by Stegman. Nice job by the rest of the Pirates to get him the ball when he was hot. Didn't think he charged on that last call by the officials. Scott for the Jeeps is a workhorse!

I posted that right after the game, still fired up from another classic Burg vs Webster game. Yes most of the calls sucked, but its no excuse to losing when your up with under a minute to go. Foul shots win championships. Someone on our team missed two of them which would put us up 3. I cant tell you how and 1's stegman had, but it was too many. Granted IMO most of those fouls were anticipation whistles, he still hit the free throws... one thing I think we can all agree on is SW is the better team but Wheelersburg had the best player... The race for the SOC2 isnt over yet...

Agreed.....I heard a few people's comments from the SW side (mostly females) but never noticed the guy who got tossed saying anything.

Hope everything is OK with Miller's shoulder. Post any updates if you hear anything.

Stegman was by far the best player on the floor tonight and Burg was the best team on the floor. Stegman didn't bring the ball up the floor against pressure all night, play defense against Scott or make the nice entry passes to the post. You can have your opinion, but I don't think a lot of people will agree.

GO PIRATES!!

big shot referees. Ive seen these guys do several games around here and its usually just as bad calls and fan ejections or warnings.

I've seen both teams play, and in my opinion...
--Stegman is the best player out of both teams, definitely top 3 in the SOC II.
--I think player-for-player, South Webster has better/more talented kids (great group of senior athletes).
--But Burg is the better TEAM, every year burg knows how to make everything "click". They are a very unselfish ball club, who give nothing but 100%. Not taking anything away from Webster, because they are an excellent ball club. But Burg is just Burg.
