Burg @ Webster 2/4/2011

Here we go...going to be a battle. Both teams playing well right now! The Webster @ Burg game was episode 1 and exciting to say the least!

Thoughts on this one?

I say Webster comes out in the zone in the first half this time rather than the second half to contain Stegman..(Stegman had a hay day on the man to man D in the first game)..but I see Burg shooting a lot better this time around from the outside giving webster fits and the Burg take one in a close nit, cheerblock ranting, crowd yelling gym, displaying the fun and excitement SOC 2 ball has to offer! Can't wait for this one!

Also, I will always remember the game where I came out of Burg high school after class and the Webster fans were wrapped around the old Burg school waiting to get tickets at 2:45p.m. This was the game where Seth Cowgill hit a shot at the buzzer to win..I am telling you, Burg vs Webster is creating some great battles and a great friendly rivalry.

I look for another close battle.. You know S.W. will do everything to shutdown Stegman after there first match up when Stegman dropped 30 + on them.. If so it will be up to the guard play of Burg to hit there shots when they get a good look in order for Burg to come out of there with the W...

If South Webster plays zone in the half-court it would be the first time this year. Do they have to change anything? Stegman scored 36 and they beat us by 2. One small thing here or there and we would have won that game anyway. I say we go line up and play them again Man to Man---maybe we will come out on top this time.

I don't think the refs took the last one from us. We had opportunities to win regardless of the zebras. Although there were times when you knew that Stegman was going to the line---he was hot and the refs might have got caught up in the momentum----good players seem to have that happen sometimes.

There are 2 coaches in our league who can influence referees----if you root for those 2 teams then you appreciate it----if you do not root for one of those two teams then you hope you get a crew who has some STONES.

Go Jeeps!

Another instant classic with the Jeeps winning by 4. Austin Loop will make it rain. Stegman was a beast the first time but I don't see him being as dominate this time around.

The last game was not decided by the refs :S It was a battle that could have clearly went both ways. The point guard for SW hurt his arm in the end, and Loop was cautiously playing with 4 fouls...I think that hurt them..keep in mind..Burg wasn't hitting from outside either (which they can do). I am excited to see the Loop boy shoot the lights out..I know he can, but truly Webster doesn't have anyone to match up with Stegman. At the end of last game, Scott and Loop were crashing in on Stegman together anytime he touched the ball but that strategy was too late. This game should be a great one and probably will draw a crowd from around the area! Both teams are playing great and at this point the IMO the two best teams in the SOC..

Go Burg..numbers I dunno? But should be a classic game.

Burg big...stegman is going to run the show again, with big threes opening up the lanes the Burg will be the one "making it rain"...Burg on a hot streak, Webster wont be able to handle them...

as far as refs go...... are you serious???

Swank didn't get tossed..

I am a Burg fan, and I can honestly say...when they tossed the Webster fan I was thinking..."the refs must be drowing out the Burg fans cause I know a few dads on the Burg side that I am embarassed to sit around" :S:S:S:S:S

Hopefully, the fans keep their (heat of the moment) mouths shut on both ends and we enjoy what should be a great game!

I would also like to commend Ater on his ability to show minimal emotion as a coach..I like that. Players should have good examples of how to keep their composure in any situation.

The D - I knew what you meant. I also knew that Swanker was not the guy who got tossed. I was just having a little fun.

Stegman was getting hammered every time he had the ball in the post and the refs could have called a foul nearly every time he received the ball. SW has no inside D to handle his type of post play and was getting frustrated because they couldn't stop him.

GO PIRATES!!

Well what if you are standing?

Im just saying that all refs miss calls and make bad ones every now and then...there are some truly homered games, but that rarely occurs...mistakes happen, and all teams face it...they just have to take it and push through the adversity...the outcome of the last game was not at all due to the refs...it was due to the 30+ put up by Stegman, as well as the rest of the team that webster just couldnt handle. and like 4th said, had the refs made all the calls Stegman would have been to the foul line every time he had the ball in the paint...

i don't think we watched the same burg - webster game swank. i remember some pretty horrible calls on both sides of the ball so to say the refs cost webster the game. it didn't happen. from what i saw both teams played a GREAT game and webster made a hell of a come back only to fall short. IMHO the better team won

I think the teams are very evenly matched. IMHO the team that scored 2 more points won. They beat us by 2 points on their home floor---hard to say they are better. I think tomorrow nights game will be very similar.

My hope is that Stegman is so excited to play us again that he can't sleep tonight and is groggy tomorrow..........

Last year he scored over 30 the first time we played----then the second game he didn't touch it enough to score 20.

I know one thing. I am going to enjoy watching this one tomorrow night! Should be another Great game between these 2 rivals.

Go Jeeps!
