If Wheelersburg shoots the ball as poorly as they have the last few games it could get real ugly, real quick. I think the Burg struggles to contain Carter as well. I'm hoping for a Burg win, but not really expecting one.

looking at the records of both teams,,,this should be a real barn burner...plus both teams seem to play each other awfully tight...both teams losses have come at the hands of teams with a very good won-lost record..would fun to watch...

Agreed. They are due to get back on track in the shooting department and hopefully tomorrow is the day it turns around!

GO PIRATES!

Ironton imo will be a little to much to handle for Burg tomorrow, though both teams will play hard, the pressure from the tigers will eventualy overwelm the pirates.Ironton by 17,to take the three seed and setup burg vs oak hill in the 4-5.Good luck to both.

The good: Ironton played a better brand of basketball on Saturday at Huntington, perhaps its best game since the first Chesapeake outing. The guys seemed to be enjoying themselves more, and playing with a purpose. They seemed to understand their roles better. The Huntington game is over now, though, and the guys will have to bring that same intensity, effort, and sense of team again Tuesday night if they want to beat a Tom Barrick-coached team.

The bad: Ironton's defense has been pretty mediocre for most of the year, and Stegman can really hurt you in the frontcourt if you let him catch it deep. The Tigers have to avoid foul difficulty because they a bit thin off the bench. Wheelersburg will guard, so the Tigers will need to avoid a lot of silly turnovers, offensive fouls, and forced looks.

Tournament seedings are very much at stake in this one. Should go down to the wire.

burg shooting ball so poorly. one three pointer against south webster. not another shot outside 10 feet the rest of the night. they would have a hard time throwing ball into the ocean right now. lets see what tonight brings.

That's great, except that neither team is playing Marietta.

Is this game still on or did that quarter inch of snow this morning get it postponed?

ALMOST GAME TIME
ON THE RADIO - WIRO 1230 AM
ON THE INTERNET AT: http://www.foxsports1420.com/main.html.
Ignore the "LISTEN LIVE" link at the upper left - it doesn't work! - INSTEAD....
Scroll down a ways and in the middle column click on the box showing both the Fox Sports and the iheartradio logos; then click on stream HERE; then put ZIPcode 45638 in the small box at the top left. Then click on Fox Sports 1230 & 1420. Kind of cumbersome, I know, but it gets you there!

FINAL SCORE: IRONTON 55 - WHEELERSBURG 37

About what I expected in this game. The Burg can't hit the ocean from the beach right now. I don't think I've ever seen a poorer shooting team at Wheelersburg in the 39 years I've lived there.

I predicted 15-5 or 14-6 for the season and it looks like I'm right on track.

Congrats to the Tigers on the win.

Just an observation, but why does Ironton have/need 10 coaches? I assume most of the guys on the bench are volunteers, but still.... Only 7 kids play, so that is more than 1 coach per player. Most football teams don't have that many coaches...

I don't personally know because I only listen to not see the games, but I remember reading on a different thread some time ago that all those involved with coaching at all grade levels are invited by Coach LaFon to sit there - it's called encouraging and developing talent from grade school on up, and you need adult commitment/involvement to promote and coach kids to participate and gain skills consistent with the Varsity coach's style. What better way to reward those who give their time and energy to coaching at lower grade levels than to recognize their efforts with a seat on the bench at Varsity games?
