Might have a bearing for MC for a home game, but River might not get the home date even with a win. MC might still have a shot a the #1 seed, with a win. We'll know more when the OVAC website gets updated.

Fort Frye was so ahead in computer points just 1 loss won't put MC ahead of FF.

R.L. Potts gym will be absolutely rockin' come Tues. night. These two teams do NOT like each other. The rivalry goes all the way back to their youth b-ball days. It was and has been MC's big guys vs. River's gaurds. MC and River both playing their best b-ball of the year right now. River got a real wake-up call down at FF. The Cadets showed them that talent alone isn't enough, you must play as hard as you can as long as you can. When and if you need a breather, the Pilots are getting solid play off the bench and can keep the defensive pressure at a high level at all times. Both teams will benefit, win or lose, from this game. Playing games and opponents of this caliber late in the season is a good preview of tournament basketball.

MC has been playing 9 players lately and getting contributions from all 9. Not so certain that the players hate one another,,, Just a good rivalry game. Should be a great atmosphere Tuesday night.

Good point, just saying that neither team accepts losing to the other. This is probably each teams' biggest rival. Some players from each team good friends, some not.

Is home court for the first round of the OVAC playoffs on the line? standings were updated MC has 676 and river has 630. I'm not sure how the calculations work but in my opinion it looks like the winner of this games takes 2nd place and will host the first round. Either way it appears the pilots will be facing the seminoles in back to back games (alot riding on both games)

Can Mc slow the pilots running game??? Can the pilots stop central in the post??? The key to this game is rebounding. It wouldn't suprize me if this is a very high scoring game

Looks as though the manhandling the pilots got handed to them at FF was a wake up call. It appears some changes have been made, as the pilots looked like a new team again Shenandoah & Beallsville. Should be a good game as MC is on a 9 game winning streak, however i think the pilots have the advantage, as they will have a packed R. L. Potts Gymnasium rockin for senior & coaches for cancer night.

No surprises here, this ballgame will be a slow pace rough matchup like usual.
Pilots prevail 49 - 47

Can someone verify that tuesday nights game will determine 2nd place in the OVAC standings. River is down 46 points, will a win surpass MC. It appears it will, but i'm not sure how the points are calculated.

Can a pilot win put them in 2nd place?

I was thinking it would, but now that i'm looking at the points it doesnt appear that it will. the pilots point total may surpass MC's with a win, but they've played 18 games vs. MC's 17 games. Since the placing goes by averages it would appears MC's avg would drop to 40 w/ a loss and the pilots would have to get 90 points (720 total points) to tie (pilots would win tiebreaker). As said in previous posts, i'm not sure how the points are awarded, but i dont think the pilots gain 90 points from 1 game (pilots have earned an avg. of 53 points per game)

can we get some clarification from someone who is familar with how the points are awarded.

EasternDspy,

good question. MC would have to gain exactly 80 points to tie. I'm not sure if thats possible as i'm not sure how points are awarded. who wins the tiebreaker? head to head was split. i'm assuming FF?

i hate to be the bearer of bad news for the River folks, but the River MC game WILL NOT determine 2nd place in the OVAC standings. I took some time sat down and ran through the calculations. Even in a perfect storm situation, and everything falls the way river needs it to, they will be 0.20 points less than MC's avg. The only way river could have surpassed MC is if shadyside beats MC (highly unlikely) on thursday night, however the problem with that scenrio is that the OVAC cutoff date is tuesday.

However it is possible for MC to pass Fort Frye in the OVAC standings. If MC can beat river, and Fort Frye losses to Frontier, MC will take first place in the OVAC standings. So there is still alot at stake as i'm sure the pilots would rather face MC than FF in the first round of the OVAC tourney.

So bottom line there is still alot at stake however, the pilots have no shot at 2nd place. MC has no worst than 2nd place wrapped up.

Soon 2b Champ,

how do you figure this is going to be a high scoring game. the last meeting was in the low 50's in a slowed down physical matchup. If if my memory serves me right, the game was in the 40's until MC started fouling and extending the game. Hopefully the pilots have improved at the free throw line, as i think this will be another close game.

Soon 2 be champ what's your prediction?

i thought the game was tuesday night. sorry. if that's the case then the OVAC standings are set in stone

1. FF
2. MC
3. River
4. Barnesville

the River MC game doesnt mean as much tomarrow night. If i was either team i wouldn't show anything. as it will give the other team a week and a half to prepare for it
