This league being one of the oldest and has ahd a lot of teams come and go,will it hold up?
What is the future?
I was wondering what the news is on teams leaving in 2011?
Which teams leaving in 2012?
Expansion?
Consolidation with other leagues?
Rumors of teams joining other leagues?
I know it has been discussed a little.
Let her rip!

Portsmouth would like to get out and join the soc 2 but i don't see that happening because the soc schools seem to have a problem with that. If the seoal would happen to fold Portsmouth i would think would go independant !

I thought the OVC might be a good fit,i mean pretty good football league,Chesapeake needs a rival in basketball and the location would be pretty good.
plus all about the same size schools.

I'm actually wondering if the thinking of some is more the idea of self preservation, IOW we dont want to leave, but we dont want to be the last one left.
I wish the remaining six schools would take a more public proactive committment to the SEOAL. If nothing else it would put an end to teams seeking to leave before everyone else does.
I hate to see it go under as well, but you have to look at Warren and Portsmouth's situation. Over 100 miles to travel for a weekday game in Baseball or Track in early spring to a game that is supposed to start at 5pm. Not to mention a Tuesday game in Hoops,it will be well after midnight getting home.
I can see some rational thinking there.

I have heard that Jackson and Chillicothe may follow Logan to their new home? Could just be rumors too.

Jackson has made a few attempts to change things up and i'm not sure what they have in mind. The TVC idea really took me by surprise. I think the SOC would've been a good fit but we weren't wanted. I would be shocked if we followed Logan should they decide to leave as that league would really mess with our travel time to games. I guess the bigger question is if Jackson (as stated earlier) is afraid of being left in the cold or if they really want to make changes???

Nobody is leaving for sure at this point. I'd say Warren will jump ship considering the travel and economic concerns. Logan and Chilli possibly an option for the MSL according to RUMORS at this point. Its no secret that Ptown would sell their soul to get into the SOC and with the recent actions of Jackson who knows what they might be thinking. Some like to stir the pot and others are just bored and dreaming up different scenarios. Change is probably coming in some form but who knows???

Maybe i am way out of the loop here but i think people are just tired of driving all over the place and the cost continues to rise. More kids are playing in "specialty leagues" as well as their school programs adding to the cost and travel and i wonder if parents are just getting fed up. It seems like we go from daylight to dark seven days a week. Schools are running scared trying to stay out of the red. Change always comes during rough periods although not always for the best. There is even more pressure for the AD's to try and schedule teams that bring in the best gate while limiting their own expenses.

Well here are my two cents...SEOAL is a good league...6 teams or whatever it is a good solid competive league and well respected. It would be a shame for the league to break up but things do change, i.e Nebraska in the Big Ten..The fun part of this forum is we get to post all kinds of ideas, good or bad, and talk to each other about them..ironmen1987 made a good poing about Jackson and the SOC not wanting them,,same for PHS...If the SEOAL should fold up a very good, strong and close league could be formed with Portsmouth, Jackson, Ironton, Chilli, Waverly and would love to see the Peake as well...just for discussion.....wipalawalt

Well the good thing is that with Marietta's departure, when it comes to basketball, the league itself will not be losing much, Marietta isn't much of a power in the league basketball wise, so it isn't as if they lost a huge player. Just a long trip

Several rumblings that a lot of Logan people parents and board want a move to the MVL? Who knows like most are saying it's about travel and time to get games and meets completed in a timely manner.
Time will tell.

Someone else will finally get a chance to win the All League Trophy now that Marietta is leaving.
With Warren's levy issues, look for them to do something. Pay to play will force the issue I'm afraid.

Over the last decade Marietta has been a total power in the league

Don't forget those basketball teams of mid 90's (Tolzda) through early 2000's (Warner). Those were some pretty darn good teams if I remember correctly.
Was Marietta part of that 4 team shared title in football back in the early 90's or were they one of the two that didn't share?
