Congratulations to the South Webster Jeeps! 2nd victory over the Indians by 1 point this season. South Webster led the whole game (had an 11 point margin 3 different times) but Valley kept fighting back and led 61-58 with 19 seconds left. David Sutton made a lay-up with 13 seconds left and after a jeep time-out and a foul, the Indians missed the front end of the one and one. Connor Scott drove and missed a floater, got his own rebound and made the put-back with 4 seconds left and Valley didn't inbounds quickly and the clock ran out.
Austin Loop ended with 27 points and shot the ball extremely well tonight. Connor had 14 and played a great second half. It was senior night as the Jeeps recognized about every senior in the gym before the game started! (valley cheerleaders and players, south webster pep-band, cheerleaders and players)
The Jeeps ended the season 15-4 and 10-4 in the SOC2, finishing in 2nd place. They won 9 out of their last 10 games and now set their sights on the tournament facing Notre Dame on March 2nd at Valley for the right to play in the Convo!
Go Jeeps!

I was there. We could have put them away several times but silly turnovers let them back in everytime. But we got the W. thats all that counts. Great season. This is Aters second season and he's lost 8 reg. season games in two years. 33-9 so far for Mr. Ater.

Snuffy Smith must have kept announcing the wrong score then. He had Valley winning by 10 to 12 points every time he gave the score. lol
Congrats to the Jeeps on a fine season and good luck in the tourney.

Roger called the game tonight. Valley's largest lead was 3 at 61-58. South Webster led 33-22 with 1:30 left in the first half and Valley scored 11 straight to tie at half. South Webster led 53-42 in the 4th quarter and Valley scored at least 8 straight to bring it to 53-50 and then took the lead at 59-58 on a Jordan West 3.

I know. Snuffy was doing the West/Minford game and he gave the score a few times and had Valley ahead to 10 to 12 points each time.

They never made up the match with Ironton St Joe. Opinions differ as to why.

It's a non league game so it didn't have to be made up. It probably benefited St Joe more than SW anyway since it would have just been one more loss for St Joe.

It was South Webster's decision to cancel both of the times the game was postponed. As much as some people whine and complain on here about games being postponed unnecessarily it is shocking to see South Webster get a pass on this. St. Joe offered South Webster a few available dates to make the game, as did South Webster, and a agreeable date couldn't be found.
BG77, I thought you were a bit more classy than to assume it to be a sure loss for St. Joe but I guess not. Would it have likely been a win for South Webster? Possibly, but now that SW and SJ are no longer going to continue this series the Jeeps can find a more suitable opponent than such a pushover like St. Joe.

Burg Grad 77: I thought that was what you meant, but Roger catches so much heat on here that I thought I would make you explain.
Blind White hat: I am a South Webster supporter and I agree with you that the one cancellation on the Saturday night by South Webster was poor. We canceled Friday and Saturday games on a Thursday----and Saturday was fine. Our game with you was on Saturday and then postponed. You are correct in this assessment. My question would be---Why aren't we playing this game after your first tournament game? There is plenty of time to play this game. We have until March 2nd off and you would either be done with your season or get a good tune-up for your sectional final.

I can't answer why the AD's aren't interested in playing the game next week. Playing the game next week definitely has its pros and cons. If St. Joe loses on Tuesday, I would see no reason for them to want to play again. If St. Joe wins Tuesday, I agree that scheduling a game could provide both teams with a tune up for the next game. There is also the risk of injury to players on both teams.

I believe you should fulfill the contract---period. Especially since we played at your place last year and this is a home game for us. If you lose on Tuesday, then you would get one more game for your seniors. If you win, then you have a great tune up! Injuries can happen in practice or in a game, so I don't buy the injury con. If injuries are that big of a concern then you should play no non-conference games for fear of injury.
I also think it is obvious that our AD wanted to play the game or he wouldn't have advertised throughout the entire state that we wanted to play another game.
Oh well, it is what it is. Good luck with your tournament games.

First of all, St. Joe went to SW two seasons ago then the trip was returned last year so it's not as if SW is going to make an extra trip to Ironton.
You don't have to "buy the injury con". It was just a point as to why someone may not want to reschedule the game. Scheduling and rescheduling is a game of give and take between the two schools and no one knows for sure why SW quickly cancelled a game many agreed could have been played or why the two schools are possibly unwilling or unable to reschedule a make up date this late in the season.
What I find odd is that many make the immediate assumption that SJ doesn't want to play because they would obviously lose to SW. With attitudes like that being floated around what incentive does SJ have to reschedule?
