Charleston Catholic is tough.
I went to the WV state Class A title game last year and watched Parkersburg Catholic beat Charleston Catholic.
Still, a good year for the White Falcons.

Yeah, not too bad. The two big kids for Catholic had pretty good games. 6'5" JP Tupta had 23 points and 9 boards and 6'3" freshman Nick George had 22 points and 8 rebounds.

Is Wahama done?I Thought they took two teams out of sectionals to region.Come on Wahama you guys don't realize how much talent you have.Being a Eagle fan we want to say we beat [split this year]the w.va. champion two years in a row.If you're done, congrats on a fine season. If not, pick it up a notch and get after it!!!!!!!!

No, they take two from each Regional and call it the "State" level nowadays so instead of having a final 4 for state you have a final 8. They fell one game short. West Virginia has never had districts. You have a one or two game sectional, a two game regional and then a 3 game state.

Wahama's basketball season is not over. A couple of years ago WV started taking the top two from each section to play in the Region. This means that since Wahama lost in the Sectional Championship they will have to travel to play the champion of the other section of this region. The winner of the other section was Williamson, so Wahama will play their regional game at Williamson. Williamson beat Gilbert so Gilbert will travel to Charleston to play Charleston Catholic for their regional game. The winners of those two games will continue in the State Tournament the losers season will be over. I think Wahama's game will be next Thursday at 7:30 pm at the Williamson Fieldhouse.

I guess WVSSAC (similar to OHSAA in Ohio) saw $$$ when they decided they wanted to do it this way a couple years ago then. I've been away for awhile and didn't know they did it this way.

They do the same thing here in Pennsylvainia(PIAA). I personally don't like it, but it's good for the kids. Gives them a chance to play on. Plays heck with the baseball, and track coaches who wants the season over. LOL!

The rule was put in because too many top teams were being beaten in the sectional rounds by other top teams from the same section. Before the change there were several years when only one (or none) of the top rated teams made the state tournament.
