I'm not sure what else Peebles' Blake Justice has to do to earn 1st team all-state. Congratulations to SE District players Nathan Copley, Blake Justice, Austin McMaster, Evan Legg and Andy Stegman on being named all-state.

I think its a joke personally. A future D1 player who is the leading scorer in Ohio (25th all-time), whose was on a team ranked by the AP, isnt voted onto the first team?hook em horns wrote:I'm not sure what else Peebles' Blake Justice has to do to earn 1st team all-state. Interesting. I thought all district POY were automatic 1st team? He was Co-POY with Copley of Chesapeake.

I thought the same thing. I'm sorry, but he was definetly First team material all the way.
That was about as bad as Bendolph making the first team district team, even though he only played in 10 games.

Popularity contest. Copley was a good player but not even best player on his team. Thought justice was first teamer. What more could Legg do? You have a second teamer averagingonly 11 Pt.

None the less congrats to all the young men. I would say all the young men would trade this award to still be playing

Congrats...to all SE District players...Evan Legg deserved at least 2nd team and Blake Justice should be 1st team; I'm not sure how that happened, to my understanding all District Players of the year are automatically placed on 1st team. But "it is what it is"...a great achievement to be named All-Ohio.

Re: Div III AP All-State Team
I definately agree with that. Legg should have been second team and IMO Justice should have been a front runner for D3 POY let alone first team. If Washington didnt play for an AAU team at Taft im not sure he would have won the award. Some AP voters rarely see top players outside of their district let alone in it so im wondering what their main draw is when it comes to voting(team success, stats, player reputation)??? All three arguements confuse me further with Blake. He has the stats(27.3ppg, 6rebs, 4stls, 4apg), he had the team success during the regular season(19-1, AP ranked 9th in the state in the final poll, #1 seed), and he has a decent reputation outside of the district(Probably the best player for one of the state's top AAU programs, ranked as the #2 or 3 wing in the state on a few sites, 25th highest scorer in state history(2183pts??), 2nd in all-time 3s made, D1 Akron commit, etc.). Same thing can be said in a lot of instances for Legg.jeff lisath wrote:Congrats...to all SE District players...Evan Legg deserved at least 2nd team and Blake Justice should be 1st team; I'm not sure how that happened, to my understanding all District Players of the year are automatically placed on 1st team. Re: Div III AP All-State Team
shenandoah's Farnsworth should have got more recognition . he had a monster senior season and i feel should have been first team . but playing for a small boon dock school like he did the media exposure was minimal . he did well against their toughest comeptition Lindslay ,Cambridge and Steubensville catholic central . he also had to fight a nagging back injury that hindered him in his first few games , games which he compiled 4 20point games , playing minimal minutes

Re: Div III AP All-State Team
He may have deserved it but this happens all the time. Blake Justice from Peebles was a no-brainer first teamer but he was put on the second team. He led the state in scoring with nearly 27.5ppg this season, scored over 2180pts in his career(25th all-time), made over 310 3 pointers in his career(2nd all-time in Ohio history), he has had nearly 10 fourty point games in his career including a 50pt outburst, he was all state/league/district all four years, district POY his senior season, hes a D1 college commit going to Akron, he won 70+ games in his high school career(20-2 this past season/Ranked #9 in the AP Poll), plus averaged over 6rebs, 4stls, and nearly 5 assists a game.stylepoints101 wrote:shenandoah's Farnsworth should have got more recognition . he had a monster senior season and i feel should have been first team . but playing for a small boon dock school like he did the media exposure was minimal . he did well against their toughest comeptition Lindslay ,Cambridge and Steubensville catholic central . he also had to fight a nagging back injury that hindered him in his first few games , games which he compiled 4 20point games , playing minimal minutes

Re: Div III AP All-State Team
i agree tribemaniac . i feel that there should be another way to select the players so that these snubs dont occur . a good player is a good player , and they all should get the honors that they deserve.
