They have opened the job up. Making Kite reapply and accepting applications from elsewhere. Have heard Larry Jordan is applying. For those of you who know him, would this be a good fit if Western hires him. Hard to believe if true.

Guys like Larry Jordan need to get out of coaching and stay out of coaching. Enjoy Retirement. Wait, they can't because they have nothing else to do!!
Guys like this look for teams that are desperate and may have a little talent coming up. 2-3 years the job will open back up!!

The administration wants kite gone. Jordan is just the way to see him gone. Jordan will take it for a couple of years and then when the talent level is back they will hire someone good. It is a shame to see what the administration is doing to this once proud program. All the kids want kite back but the administration doesnt care.

If a guy is willing to take a program over when the cupboard is completely bare, and go through the hard knocks of trying to rebuild, he should be given more than a couple of years to do so. People always want the quick fix, but quick fixes ruin programs long term. Kite seems like a good coach...saw him at Jackson a few years ago. Leave him alone and let him build a program.

What is the reasoning for the administration not wanting Kite back?

SO far three people have applied. Kite who in my opnion should be given at least two more years, Larry Jordan of southeastern fame, and John Lawhorn who coached peebles last year and at Rio Grande in the eighties and ninetys. What does everyone think about those three choices.

Personally I dont think there are any justifiable reasons. Apparently the administration doesnt think he has won enough and he yells at the kids to much.

I think the board better take the opinions of there players into consideration the varsity team went to the last board meeting and read a letter to the board they all sat down and wrote. Some of those boys that play only due cause they like Kight. I would hate to see upperclassman not play over this mess. And now the board who had to decide to cut teachers out of jobs last week are under pressure to hire a coach. And as a parent of a player I want them to make a decision at the next meeting if they don't then it will be to late to get into summer leagues at almost all spots. Then a team that started 2 sophmores and 2 juniors will loose out on time to improve as a team and that is important if they are to improve. We need the board members to step up and squash this stupid stuff next meeting. To be honest with the resent way we run coaches off to have any applications is surpriseing. So hire someone I hope it's Kight but quit tourchering these boys that bust there buts to play for us and get this crap over.

If you would have told me ten years ago that Jordan and Lawhorn would be applying for the Latham job I would have said you were nuts.

I can't fathom Lawhorn wanting it. Maybe he doesn't have anything else to do and he lives nearby I think.....but I just can't see it.

Jordan is excellent in his ability to get a team pretty competitive in a fairly quick manner (lol on the yelling part)....but that being said......give Kight some more time. If the kids want him there then what is the problem?

Danny, you hit the nail on the head. The ones suffering are the kids and the community. I too hope they do the right think and keep kite. If they dont he will move on and find another coaching job. However the kids will lose an entire summer of getting ready if they dont make a decision soon. The board should of had the balls to make the decision one way or the other last board meeting. To open it up and ask kite to reapply is just hoping you find a better candidate and if you dont you let Kite have it back. That is terrible leadership. Unfortunatley I have come to expect that from our board.

John Lawhorn really applied for the job? Is this 100% confirmed?

Why in the world would the BOE want Jordan? Will stay a couple of years and bolt. Maybe they need to talk to Jackson or Ross SE. Lawhorn left Peebles last year. Stay put for at least one more year or hire someone that plans on building a program.

I do know this, their Jr. Hi. team this past season was loaded. Watched their 8th grade dismantle a few teams last season. Whoever gets this group will have major success in about 2 years if all the kids stick together.

JH success does not equate into HS success.
