I would have to guess that Portsmouth and Southern would top the list in sectional titles

I'm sure southern has a few but you must be forgetting chesapeake, wheelerburg, north adams and ironton. doubt southern can match this group. hope to see some good responses on this thread.

The program you can buy at the convo really helps to highlight the success that various programs have had in the southeast. Peebles has 19 sectional titles which is the same number that North Adams has but North Adams does have one state appearance. Racine Southern is well in the twenties for sectional titles and also has at least one state appearance so I would probably have to put them over NA and Peebles at this point. It's hard to argue that anyone other than Portsmouth has the most successful history in the sport in the southeast. Wheelersburg would probably be second followed by Chesapeake then Ironton.

Over the past two decades it is very difficult to argue anyone is better then Wheelersburg.

If I had to rank programs in SEO in the past 20-25 years it would go like this.

1. Wheelersburg
2. Chesapeake
3. Ironton
4. Portsmouth
5. Belpre
6. South Webster
7. North Adams
8. Greenfield Mc
9. Eastern Meigs
10. White Oak

What has Belpre done the past 25 years? They had a Final 4...but what else (I really don't know)

If ya go back 20 years I'd put Ironton ahead of Peake. The peak wouldn't play Ironton for years and with two regional titles I would put Ironton ahead of them.

Portsmouth is the king of southern Ohio basketball folks. It's not even close

Eastern Pike - 19 Sectional Titles 5 District Titles I believe 5 District Runner up 1 Regional Runner Up and I believe 15(i can name 12 years) of Conf Titles between the SOC and old Tri County League, some of you guys from Peebles will remember that one. All since 1964 when Beaver and Stockdale schools were consolidated.I know this would not make the top tier but there is a good tradition and a great deal of pride in this program.

Someone from Belpre might have to chime in, but I know they made it to the final four once in the 90's, plus once in the 2000's.

Chesapeake dodged Ironton? When? We played them all four years I was in school 98-02 and beat them every time. There was a streak going on of like 10 straight years Chesapeake beat Ironton before like 03 or 04. I don't have exact records but Chesapeake has owned Ironton over the past 20ish years. I have never heard this claim that Chesapeake dodged Ironton.

Also, Chesapeake despite just one final four, has been to the regional finals since 88 like 8 or 9 times. I don't think there is anyone in the area outside of the Burg that can touch that. Chesapeake won their conference 11 straight times from 1996-06. Averaged over 20 wins from 1990-06.

Outside of 1990 and then last year, has Portsmouth been relevant in that 20ish year span? No disrespect but this is a honest question. I can't remember Portsmouth ever being very good while I was growing up watching bball in SEO (1992-2006).

I left out Eastern Brown, probably should add them somewhere.

Eastern Pike has 19 Sectional titles. If your getting your info from the Convo program it does not have updated D4 sectional titles from this season added to the total(noted below this info in the program). Racine Southern should be 29 total also. Thanks for posting this, it will help all of us make our arguements

Belpre had FInal 4 trips in 1997 losing to Miami East 61-57 and in 2001 losing to Cleveland VASJ 63-57 all in semi-final games, courtesy of OHSSA.org

I remember that 97 team, they beat Chesapeake in the regional semi-finals. That Belpre team was like 10-10 then just turned it on.

The 02 Belpre team was favored to go back to state but were upset by Chesapeake in the district semi-finals that year.

No disrespect to the creator of this thread, but winning a sectional title now means little. If you make it to the sweet 16 then that is very impressive.

I'm pretty sure that 97 Belpre team had players or a main player hurt or ineligble for the first half of the season then once they came back the basically didn't lose til they got beat in the Final 4.

Didn't Belpre also win a Regional Title in '93?
