Chillicothe should win this one. Ironton beat St.C by 13 earlier in the year. Danny Monteroso is the real deal for the devils however and everyone knows how one great player can spark a team.

St Clairsville has more than Montesero. They have a few kids who can light it up also. Cavs will have their hands full. When preparation meets execution and heart meets effort, you have a chance in every game. When talent is combined with those others you have the makings of District Champions. These two teams fit the bill. Will be a good one.

FYI. Columbus Eastmoor makes it to the D2 Regionals in Dayton. That kind of competition on our schedule has helped us the last month now.

i have personally watched st.c and they are not over athletic, fast or strong they just play ball. monteroso is good he is gonna penetrate and pull up if you give him to much and if you dnt guard well he blow by and throw it down. st.c surrounds dan with marhefka, carlton, jeffries who can light it up. they average over 9 threes a game. tough out for chillicothe

I think some people dont realize how good Chillicothe's D really is...ill let hitchbone64 give a rundown on the numbers...lol..the way they smother a team from one end to the other, ill bet St. Clairesville has not been defended this year like they will be on Thursday....good luck to both teams...GO CAVS!!!!!!!!!!

I agree BV, but we better be on our toes if they are really averaging 9 threes a game. They may have lost to Ironton, but they apparently have won twent-one other games. I think this is a much tougher out than Waverly has. CAVS by ten or less.

I must admit this game concerns me a little. This Clairsville team is 22-2 for a reason, and with all due respect to Vinton County I do not think it is that type of team. I have seen VC teams come through our district and regional with a 21-1 record and get beat by 20-50. I think this game will be closer than most people think. The good things that come to mind is that I think our Cavs will play D the entire game so that gives us a chance. I think our coaching staff will have them prepared. i just get concerned when I see people on here typing Cavs by 15 plus, etc. We are in the regionals once again and this is no easy task. I think a lot of people just think it is as easy as counting 1-2-3. I do think our fans have that mindset of we are the cavs and we'll win by 15 because of all the success in the last decade. If the cavs hit some shots and don't turn the ball over they have an excellent shot at playing in the regional finals. However, it can go in the opposite direction as well.

Just saw video highlights of St. Cville in the district finals vs. E.Liverpool. They remind me of a Logan Elm. Not over athletic but they play great team basketball and understand everyone. I'll take my Cavs in this one by 10+.

Go Cavs!

I'll be there rooting for the Cavaliers.......I saw St. Clairsville play Ironton at the Hoops Classic in December at the Convo, and the Fighting Tigers won handily by about 15 points........the Monteroso kid is very good and can score from about anywhere on the court.......If Chillicothe continues to play the way they have, I think they have enough defense to keep the Red Devils in check. I would presume that Zach Johnson will be assigned to guard Monteroso.

Rabeanos12, You must have seen the video highlights in slow mo cam. They average over 70 per game unlike an LE team that will be 45-55 game. Their point guard is quick, strong, a excellent shooter and better penetrator. That said, the Montesero kid is the District POY. He can throw down off two feet and in traffic. Very athletic and skilled. Add in the other knock down 3 shooters and you get 70 ppg. We will have to defend the perimeter and the paint.

I do like our chances if we take care of the ball and feed Mr London. We will have a size advantage there, but everyone else matches up pretty well. Our season has been an adventure, but the kids are focusing and playing one
possession at a time. The benefit of having faced Regional semi-finalist like Columbus Eastmoor, Portsmouth and Ironton should help. The discipline of matching up with athletic and skilled teams like warren, Gahanna, Dublin Coffman and Dayton C.J. Will help. We lost some of those games, but other than some breakdowns over a qtr or so, we were right there. Good teams will punish you if you make mistakes. We have to limit ours and force St Clairsville out of their element. One good thing is they cannot duplicate London's length in practice this week.

Will be a fun and exciting game for some. Will be nerve-racking for others. Just want to see Cav Nation show up loud and proud. We have been spoiled over the past 7 years, so some fans are just getting their $6 out for the first time.

GO CAVS!!! ONE HEARTBEAT!

Can't disagree with anything that's been posted on this site so far. Chilly's height will definitely give the Red Devils some issues to deal with.

This team has played well all year since their 2 early losses, and I think it's a much different team now then when they played Ironton in Athens. 3 of the Red Devil starters were a little behind at that time because of the playoff run made in the fall (Marhefka, Giffin and Monteroso).

If the Devils move the ball and shoot well, and get out and run - then they should stick with Chillicothe. All that is lacking is the match up with a big in the post, as the Devils don't have much height. Keep in mind, this team returns everyone next year, as they are without a senior on the roster.

I suspect that St C should travel well, the kids are getting out of school a little early to accomodate, and there is at least one bus for adults making the trip. See you guys on Thursday night and best of luck.

Good luck to the Red Devils as well. Excellent group of kids who will be even better next year. The East is like the Southeast, as we do not get a lot of major media coverage. That is why SEOP is great. I learn more about hoops and kids in the Southeast, than any other way possible.

It's gameday! Just read the article in the gazette. Did not realize St.Cville doesnt have anyone taller than 6'3". I think this is the difference in the ball game. I am calling Malik having a triple double tonight!

Cavs 58
St.Clairesville 43

Go CAVS!

Didn't get a chance to pick up a ticket at the school. I assume you can get them at the gate as usual?
