How do you think they will be this year? They are returning all 5 starters and have IMO one of the best coaches in Ohio :aaaaa14 :aaaaa26

Impressive. The Chef knows The Burg has been a thorn in the side of the Redstreaks many times over the years in the tournament trails. In fact The Chef was told the Pirates beat the Streaks in the Sectional finals 3 straight years back in the day of the super AA Sectionals at old Portsmouth HS. In the days when even the number #1 seeds would have to play like 3 games to get on to the District tournament. Back when winning Sectional titles really meant a lot.

Last year, Burg got off to a really slow start, but played a good 2nd half of the season. With the likes of Loop, Kretzer, Yates, etc. gone from the SOC, they should have a pretty good year. Minford will be very tough and probably the early pick for SOC champs. Way too early to tell, but I would guess somewhere in the 12-16 win range. I think their experience and coaching will help them to have an improved record from last year.

I can see burg going about 16-6. I'm interested to see them play Ironton in the second half of the year. Ironton has enough talent to win the region, but I think the pirates will give them a run for their money

Talent isn't as much of an issue as size. Maybe we were just spoiled from the Cam Miller and Andy Stegman days, but it is nice to have a 6'4" to 6'6" post guy to take up space on the inside. Dillan Miller is listed as 6'4" in the football program, but you know how that goes...

Don't think they will do well after the season for the next several years. League as always will do well.

I have heard that Harlow is back with the team this year. His length and height should be a benefit. With the back line of Harlow (6'5), D.Miller (6'4) and Moore (6'2) to go with E.Miller, Massie and Cowgill could make a little more interesting team to watch. This will allow Moore to go to power forward and D.Miller to be more of a 2/3 player which suits them both better. Throw in Claxon, Spradlin, and Pyles and the team should have a good season.

It's Tom Barrick, it don't matter if his post his 5'11, they will be competitive and a tough out every night.

As always you can't win if you can't shoot the ball well, haven't had many scorers the last couple of years.

Who is Harlow? I have never heard that name before with Burg basketball.

He is a senior who moved away a year or so ago and now moved back. He played 2 years ago as a sophomore on the JV team. I believe he has to sit out at least the beginning of the season until he becomes eligible because of the moving.

Can they score from the outside? Massive maybe be best first choice here. Also piraes exiting the football tourney early give barrick couple extra weeks. They will be prepared. Should be fun to watch as grass growing. Deliberate style of play is killer on those watching. Lets pray for a little up tempo.

no comment on the piraes that Rx is referring to haha, but the Pirates will battle this year. Getting an early jump on some of the competition will help tremendously.
