I'm bias...But I would have to say Piketon will be the favorite. Experience is the best teacher and Piketon will return all five starters plus the top 8 out of Coach L's 9 man rotation.

6'1 Isaac Brabson (All-SVC, All-District)
6'1 Craigen Moore (1st Team All-SVC, 2nd Team All-District, 17ppg.)
6'3 Zach Farmer (2nd Team All-SVC, 2nd Team All-District, HM All-Ohio)
6'4 Jeremy Farmer (HM All-SVC)
5'10 Wyatt Brewster (HM All-SVC, HM All-Disrtict as a Freshmen)

Subs:
5'10 Evan Ferguson, 6'1 Colton Williams, 6'4 Aaron Southworth, 6'2 Austin Buchanan, plus some excellent shooters from the reserve team.

Notes: The Redstreaks are 49-7 in the SVC over past four years with Three Titles including a 14-0 Gold Ball. Five straight District appearances with (1) Title, (1) Runner-up, and twice beaten by a Final Four team.

The way things are shaping up, the Streaks may have a little later start than normal. Looks like the football team has playoff potential.

I think you are right, could be a later start indeed. But I do think the SVC will not aide them in playoff prep....

A win against Minford sure could've helped...we allowed that one to slip away.

They return basicly the whole squad from last year. I think they are going to be pretty good not quite as good as there final 4 team from a few years back but pretty darn good .

If Streaks win this years SVC title that would make 4 outta 5 yrs. In 2010 the title was 2pts from being the Streaks otherwise they'd be going for 5 in a row. Zane Trace took title that season if the memory serves correct. Streaks beat the Pioneers by like 30pts and 2nd time they played Piketon had a key player suspension. Then 2011 was the Golden SVC season. Think Streaks have been at Athens every year starting in 2008. And we're all still smiling from that state trip in 2009. What a great memory and we wanna go back as Once is never enough.
Here Comes the Streaks!

No worries of a late start for the Streaks this season. I just don't see enough playoff points left in their football schedule to be able to make it to week 11 with the pig skin.

The SVC goes through the village for sure. Very impressive record over the last five years as the chef has pointed out. One day we will look back and call these the golden years of the Piketon program much like the 90's are referred to at the U and the 80's @ Southeastern.

X: The Chef takes that as a compliment. If only AB hadn't skipped town when did to enjoy this run. But then again maybe it's the best thing AB could have done. AB had the tendency to be misread so to speak.

"it's better to burn out, than fade away" The poet Neil Young

Maybe AB just knew when the time was right to ride off into the sun set.
Like Jim Brown and Barry Sanders we always remember AB for his/her greatness and not as a washed up has been.
I would like to think somehow someway the Ankle Breaker is still enjoying The Streaks from afar.

X: Well said. In many ways we've all faded out since AB's era on these forums. It was all just too much too fast...kind of the way it was for the Elvis. Those days were great with the bantering and boasting, taking it right to the limit(s) and then some. The forums just haven't been the same without some of the key cast of characters. Oh well The Chef regresses. As Don Henley sang in the End of the Innocence (covered by AB at karaoke at Beril's circa 2004):

Who knows how long this will last
Now we've come so far, so fast
But, somewhere back there in the dust
That same small town in each of us
I need to remember this
So baby give me just one kiss
And let me take a long last look
Before we say goodbye

duck butter,
Are you saying Piketon's 5 couldn't beat Waverly's one? Yes, Kretzer is an amazing talent not seen very often in these parts and he did put up 43 points on the Redstreaks last year but I doubt he could have beaten the Streaks by himself.
Piketon should have a very, very good team this year. Waverly should be better than many are predicting. I don't think the Streaks would beat Waverly by as many as they want. Will be a very intersting matchup should they meet in the Classic.
