I think this year might be the one where Racine finally wins it the first time. Only thing thats bin holden em back is two things and there both a bunch of crap. The boys down at Tom's says nobody tried to make the boys lift them danged waits this here year, so they should be shootin better. them darn things throws off yer shot. With Wahama not in the Hocking any more they can't homer us out of the championship any more so I think we can win it.

Now that rite theres what Im sayin. That 17 spot was earned when Racine didnt pay no mind to liften them danged waits. We was a basketball school back in them days. From what I been hearin at Toms we are gettin back to them days. Bout time.

Obviously, nobody pays attention to the league. Southern lost 6 seniors. Trimble is down, wahama is gone, fed hock lost the one thing they had in a 7 footer, and south gallia lost a lot. The league will come down to Eastern, Belpre, or Waterford. IMO, Belpre has the best shot. They return all but one player from last years championship team and they return TVC-Hocking co-MVP Jake Ullman. Belpre basketball is slowly on the rise

Belpre will dominate the hocking like they dominated the Ohio.

Belpre should be the top pick with Fed Hock not far behind.

Belpre.....I watched Waterford play my sons team in a shoot out at the end of June, they were awful. Their coach would yell at their point guard "make it rain" and on command he would pull it from wherever he was as he dribbled up the floor, no joke a few times it was like 30 feet. Problem was he never even drew iron when I watched. They looked bad.

Miller was young last year. I believe they return quite a few, could be a scrappy team. Fed Hock for sure will be right there-especially with howie in his second year. Wahama lost lee but I saw some talent coming on at the end of the year last year. It always takes wahama some time to get the football out of them. they always do better as the season progresses. Southern and south galia probably lost to much from last year.I do not know who eastern lost. I could see waterford being competitive. Probably if I had to pick the top two Belpre and fed hock.

I agree with everyone here that Belpre has to be the clear favorite. Fed Hock returns the Karney kid along with there 3 guards so they will be pretty darn good as well. Miller will be competive this season as well they return everyone. Eastern brings back their nucleaus so they should be in the thick of things. Southern, Wahama, Waterford should all be lumped in the middle somewhere. South Gallia will be really bad and prolly be in the basement by themselves.

No mention of Trimble? Are they no longer a perennial power in the Hocking Division year in and year out? Just a few short years ago with great coaching they were a threat to win it every year. I guess they actually did move in a different direction like they said they wanted to.

Southern will finally have some size. Drummer at 6'8", Teaford at 6'5", Blankenship at 6"4" Pickens at 6'2" Wolfe at 6'1", McNickle at 6'0".

Did Southern get some move ins or are these freshman? The only player I heard of was Drummer and he was their 4th or 5th option last year. With all their guards gone from last year I look for them to be about the same level as the Tomcats in the middle of the pack.

I Believe Southern will still be a threat in the league. When you have a big man like Drummer you will be a force. Plus it is never easy to go over to Racine and win. You are right I did forget about Trimble, they will be better but I stil look for them to be at the middle to end of the conference. Had a good JV team last year I look for them to be a year away from competing.

1. Belpre-Ullman (Player of the Year as a sophomore), Hoffman, 2 bigs. To Much
2. Federal Hocking- (Carney, Rex, Little Red Head Guard,) Would not be suprised if FH and Belpre split the league.
3. Miller-(Got everyone back, if they can get consitent defensive play as well as rebounding they will be good.
4. Eastern-(Carnahan is back, another year under Coach Britton, if they can score dont sleep on them because they play defense with the best of them)
5. Southern-(Lost everyone but Drummer and Wolfe, but if i remember right there JV team was pretty good, wouldnt be suprised if they finished as high as 3 or as low as 7).
6. Wahama-(Lost Lee, but got the QB to come out and play this year which is huge for them, have 2 guards back. Same as Southern, Wahama could finish between 3-7)
7. Waterford-(Lost Lang and there PG but have Shrivers and Moore back, be interesting for the cats this year)
8. Trimble-(Depending how long football goes, Cats could get off to a slow start)
9. South Gallia-(Really young, and a new coach could be a long year.


I think 1,2 is a lock with Belpre and Federal Hocking, 3-8is a toss up, I wouldnt be suprised on any combiniation there

Nothing is a 'lock' in the TVC-Hocking ... not many folks had Belpre doing much last year and they ran away with the league ...

I'll get a better idea of how things are shaping up after I see most of the teams at the Shriners preview ... but I do have to agree that BELPRE is the odds on favorite.

Do you have the scheduled date for the preview yet bulldog?

I don't think they have set it yet .... but I'll look.
