Does anyone else think that a refresher covering newer style moves are needed for refs. I have observed some moves the past couple of years that were so great the refs called them illegal.

Are they updated in the rule book? If not, then they are still illegal.

I was hoping that this would be about how no one should blame the officials for the outcome of the game or call them out by name on this site.

Basketball officials must attend 1 state meeting for rule changes and points of emphasis during the season. They also must attend 4 meetings at a local level where rules and situations are discussed and interpreted. So no, a refresher for refs is not needed.

I'm on the fence with owning up to your calls and your right you shouldnt blame refs for the win or loss you should plan to be down by 6 at the start of a game due to the "poor ref factor". There area few less than par refs out there, to say there arent would be an oversight. In all jobs there are great good and bad. The question was are the referees caught up to speed as the athletes manipulate these rules in very creative ways without breaking them and I feel either they have not or just make bad calls. Overall I feel referees try their best.
