I haven't made it to the gym yet but from what I'm hearing on the radio Lynchburg seems to be controlling the game against Ripley at this point.

The SHL was formed in 1970-71 but it was under the name Southern Hills Athletic Conference....due to all the stuff within the state requirements for every organization the SHL must return to the original name to avoid paying a large sum of money each year with IRN numbers and all that crap.

Starting during the 2013-2014 school year it will be recognized as the SHAC on everything (titles, awards etc).....some are using it now to just get it out there.

North Adams over Manchester 27-23. NA didn't look overly impressive, though it is usually fools gold to dig to deep into preview results. They did let their bench play a good bit. Manchester looked a little better than I expected they would but will still probably finish at the bottom of the league. It's apparent they could use the help of a Dylan Ricketts or Travis Combs getting the ball down the floor.

Fayetteville over West Union 48-21.WU didn't look very good today. Frost is a quality player but he forced a lot of bad shots. Fayetteville looked decent. They are very small but scrappy. Multiple players can hit from downtown.

Ironman, thanks for the explanation. I have been hearing about this for the past couple weeks and I was wondering the same. This helps clear it up.

Fairfield over Peebles 37-33. Not much stock can be put in this result. Peebles was up by three and subbed in the bench players at the end of the game. Neither team really showed much in this one. Depth could be Peebles' biggest problem all season. Against a strong D3 squad they can play maybe 6. Stone Crothers impressed me tonight for the Indians. His speed and defensive ability could have been used last year. Williams and Hildebrant looked good for Fairfield.

Hildebrant is just good at everything.

I left at the end of the first quarter of the Eastern/Whiteoak game. Anyone have a final? Both teams looked good. Eastern has a couple new players who will make a big impact this season. Whiteoak will give Fairfield everything they want in the small division. Eastern/NA/Peebles could be interesting in the big.

Enjoyed the evening at Eastern.

Lynchburg started the night with a good balance of guards and bigs. The Smith boy will be hard to match up with.
Ripley will struggle this year.

NA looks like an elite team but something just isnt clicking, they need to get it figured out before the season starts.
Manchester plays with pride but inexperience will be an issue.

Fayetteville can light it up from anywhere on the court, if Iles and Lykins are hot, look out. Size is an issue.
West Union had several good looks but could not put the ball in the hoop.

Fairfield looked ok, but never played the starters together. Hilderbrand and Williams may be the best 1-2 in the league.
Peebles didnt show much. They played several players, not the typical Peebles team that I'm use to.

Eastern is what you expect, very physical and well coached. Lawson and Scott are the best 3-4 combo, they will win alot of games this year.
Whiteoak two words " Doc Seip" if you control him you control the team.

Based on what I saw, Eastern wins the bid school and Fairfield wins the small.

OHStide - nice rundown from SHL Preview action last night ... greatly appreciate the "napkin" stats of dropping the key names from teams across the league although all of the folks from the SHL area have always given the rest of us on SEOPs great feedback on the teams West of Rte 23 ...

phs,
if you are basing your predictions on preview results you are making a mistake. most coaches don't play their best kids much as it is an oppotunity to let some players get some playing time who won't get much playing time in the regular season. with that being said some coaches play in the preview like it is the ncaa finals or the results count toward the regular season.

2012-2013 SHAC Preview

Alot to look forward to this year.

2 things stood out when I reviewed the team rosters; several young players and a few missing seniors.

Here's my rankings based on several factors:

Eastern-best coach, best player, defending champs enough said......
Lynchburg-dominent post play, good perimeter players, overall good balanced team.
NA-great size, depth, high expectations ( could be #2, maybe should be #2 but Lynchburg doesnt get enough love on SEOP)
Peebles-only a 2 man game (but those 2 players are pretty darn good), lack depth, could move up if they get some player support.
West Union-have some nice players, but a clear #5

Fairfield-very athletic, decent size, able to break down the defense off the dribble. Could be a handful if they improve team defense and rebounding.
WO-experienced, will challenge FF inside, depth is still an issue.
Fayetteville-improved, quick, good shooters, undersized. Will play a spoiler role this year and impact league standings.
Manchester-better than expected, but will only win 3-4 league games this year.
Ripley-rebuilding year for the blue jays. Several nice young players on the way.

Everthing gets started next week. Best Time of the year!!!!!!!!!
